The Purple Rain Tour Just like The Jackson's had The Victory Tour Princ ehad The Purple Rain Tour. The Jacko's was just North American was Prince's a world tour? Michael had many lasers and effects and was in stadiums. Was Purple Rain in arenas? I think I recall then saying The Purple Rain stage was the shape of a diamond and sat in the center of the areana or stadium...is this ture? Working up a purple sweat.

The Purple Rain tour was originally supposed to be a "world tour", whatever that means ( the term "world tour" is very flexible, you know, sometimes it includes Australia and Japan or even Eastern Europe, sometimes it´s just the USA and the UK and maybe Germany, France and Spain or Italy).
Anyway, they changed their mind about it and it stayed in the USA only. However, the tourbook and other merchandise like, for instance, t-shirts etc., call it the "Purple Rain World Tour", probably because they were already made before Prince´s team changed their minds. The tour was very successful, so they decided to keep it in the USA for a while longer. The NY, Syracuse concert was designed to make up for the lack of a real world tour. German TV station ARD used to have this program called "Rockpalast", and they made a deal to broadcast the Purple Rain show via satellite to Europe, that´s why you see some people holding up "Hello Europe!" signs during the Syracuse show ( the one that was officially available as a VHS tape) . Prince actually went to Germany to discuss these matters before the show was broadcasted, I have a magazine snippet somewhere where a German music journalist mentions how he met Prince and the guy who was behind the whole Rockpalast broadcast. They were still discussing whether to take the tour to Europe or not. Hope this helps. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
