The Philosophy of Prince Lyrics.

The Philosophy of Prince Lyrics.

Being familiar with all Prince music officially released…Is what I am basing this discussion on.
Knowing that there are plenty of songs we have not heard and therefore are pieces of a puzzle that are missing…As well as the fact that, all of Prince’s music is not all of his heart’s experiences.
I am sure that Prince’s heart has a diary tucked into his soul that only God will read.
Prince has been very open, approaching literally every topic through music, which is very generous, daring, and courageous considering being open for attack amongst the constructive criticism.

What is your opinion of Prince’s body of lyrics from a philosophical aspect? The interpretation of this proposed question is subjective.

My opinion of Prince lyrics puts sexuality on the fringe of the heart of the matter…This is what I believe…

As One man…
Prince lyrics appear to be a confession of a love that has been suspended in time…as if it is possible his DNA remembers the life of Adam, and Eve is a lost girl in the crowd.
As A man…
Prince appears to believe that his spirit is destined to resolve world conflict for the sake of equality, as the thread that weaves the body of humanity together as a family of ONE.

In my eyes…
Prince deserves a “Purple Heart,” for the attacks made on his attempt to feed the world the love it needs.

Although Prince is a talented musician, Prince’s body of work reveals that He is a True Soldier of Love.

Many souls on this planet have also spent their lives trying to glue humanity together with love. Those male and female Soldiers from all walks of life, are not forgotten as I point to Prince, as a valuable family member. T

I'm just chillin here, on planet Earth.....
I'm confused as to how DNA, a genetic component, can "remember" anything. And let's leave Eve out of it. She gets a bad enough rap, with the temptation and all.
If Prince is going to solve world conflicts, equality or not, by some thread, he should've been weaving long before now.
What exactly is "the body of humanity"? Now that really has me confused.
Is it one entity? a mass of bodies symbolized by a concept? a bad acid trip?
As far as the "Purple Heart" and Prince's attempt to feed the world love.....he got a little pissy about the Warner Bros deal. For YEARS, there was no feeding the love. He can get an award of some kind, or a plaque, better yet.
As far as Prince's heart's diary that only God will read, I have one word: autobiography.
Now that'll be a challenge. wink

I see a common thread of interpreting the human condition as relates to love and intimacy.

There is also a strand concerning salvation and making "things" right for one's (Prince's too) own sake.

hmmm

Frankly, when it comes to the philosophy of his lyrics as pertaining to interpersonal relationships, 99% of them scream "You're wrong! I'm right! You betrayed me! How could you betray me?!"

Thankfully he seems to be maturing. Just a little bit. At least in *some* of his lyrics.

xplain- Hi...The body of humainty is all of us collectively...Each person is one cell, or avenue of expression of God.
God created Eve from Adam, which was the side of himself that was tempted, and that is why God put the responsibility for the fall of man on Adam....However...In any great story, as this one, the story of how life came to be...there will be a beginning, a protagonist, an antagonist creating conflict...and a resolution...paradise will certainly arise...there is no where left 2 go.

Whelp!
Maybe this should be in politics and religion.....?
I'm still waiting for Prince's autobiography. Whether paradise rises,or not.
or hell freezes over, or the cows come home, etc etc...

How DNA remembers the beginning...I don't know....I just know that it does.

It's like Love...It has to come together...Why? cuz GOD sayz so....because we are all a broken puzzle, that he designed...that goes together piece by peace.

If HE designed the puzzle who broke the puzzle?

If it was HE why did he not leave it whole?

If it was evillol why did HE allow evillol to break the puzzle that is humanity?

Tame, I love your post!
People may think I read too much into Prince's lyrics and call me crazy.
But I do believe Prince is here on a mission to spread the message that saves souls!
From the very beginning his message was LOVE, love in every shape or form!
Love for God, love for one another, love between man and woman.
Since his album controversy he's been urging the new breed leaders to stand up and organize!
In the old testament God told Moses to appoint a prince (leader) for every tribe to take charge of the entire tribe.
I believe Prince knows his purpose and uses the stage as a platform and his music to spread the message. If you listen to his music the message becomes louder and clearer as we are approaching the new dawn and the new world order,as prophesied in the book of revelation.
The world as we know it will cease to exist, the countdown has begun!
God's law is in effect whether you believe it or not!
love the one who is Love!

What a dumb thread. The Philosophy of Prince Lyrics? Prince likes to get laid and paid. Nothing more nothing less. Yeah he spouts stuff about god and such, but dont most African American R&B singers?

Stop looking for meaning where there isnt any. Prince doesnt want to spread love and peace - YOU want him to.

Get over it

That is just Prince's ego getting in the way! Prince is after all just a man with wants and needs. Show me the man that doesn't want to get laid and paid!
But after all is said and done Prince knows the truth when it comes to God!

Why don't you open the bible and find out for yourself, my dear?
If I would try to explain and you have already made up your mind to not believe, I would be wasting my time, wouldn't I?

I study Philosophy at the University of Glasgow just now, though admittedly I'm only in my first year. Some of what we've covered definitely seemed like material Prince was not only familiar with, but challenged or agreed with in his lyrics.

I have to ask - what exactly is God's law? Are the atrocities human kind commit part of that? Is God willing to allow such things for the sake of "free will"?

I'm not a believer, so maybe I shouldn't be commenting on any of this, but I can't see the logical, or practical, basis for belief in God.

However, it's plain Prince not only believes, but has massive faith that the God he worships is responsible for all, and will be there to congratulate all when we come into balance and realise the truth. Due to his belief, though, I think Prince has some doubts over the existence of "free will", or an agency within us all that is able to truly direct the path we take.

If there is an all-powerful creator, the assumption is that he is all-knowing as well. Therefore, he knows what the future holds in store, for if he does not then he is not all-knowing. If the future can be known, regardless of the actions we "choose" to make, do we have any sort of freedom at all? I'd suggest not.

Listen to Free, and there's a line in Sometimes it Snows in April that's along these lines, where Prince puts merit into the power of choosing your reaction, not merely going with instinct or stereotype. I believe he feels this is the only sort of freedom we have. Regardless of his views on destiny, fate or the role of God in such things, I think he regards life as controlled by many aspects, and the only part we can truly call free is the thoughts and feelings we control, our reactions to events and those around us.

Doubting free will is a scary position to be in, in truth. Without it, we can't hold anyone responsible for anything, so murderers, rapists etc. would simply be part of some design, and their victims always meant to be abused or killed. If we can find anything that we have control over, it justifies the belief in an existence of freedom. I honestly feel Prince was searching for that for a bit, and maybe still has doubts to this day about the whole issue.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?
