Dreamin' About U. Is it just me or of all of Prince's catalogue is this the one song that doesn't sound like him. Great as it is it just sounds like someone else. It's the kind of song that features on many chillout albums and also has that Eric Roberson feel to it.

What's the word I'm looking for? Rhymes with wanker. Oh yeah. Wanker Hell, whilst I'm at it I may aswell ask if I should read aloud the comment in monotone as implied by the lack of punctuation with which it was written? [Edited 4/21/08 7:52am]

One of my favourites too. It just sounds so very different to the rest of his catalogue. By the first reaction it was as though I'd said it was a good thing so many Jews had died during the war or that paedophilia should be encouraged. Such a strong reaction. It's amusing to have people make comments like that but you sure wouldn't want them looking after your kids or working in PR.

as george clooney said in reation to so many negative comments about him on the internet ''it is spooky to think there are thousands of people in darkened rooms writing about you in from of a computer who wouldnt dare say it to your face...''

I love this song
I just listened to it on my way home from school. That led me to listen to all the slow songs on Emancipation.

It's very similar to Find the Way on The Vault, Vol 1.5 by Eric Roberson in many ways. Although with less soul and, dare I say it, less beauty.
I just think the way the song floats along and has the neo-soul feel is so unlike anything else by Prince. Obviously his vocals couldn't be anything else. He's complete unique in that way as are so many great vocalists. I also find the use of triplet harmonies throughout the song not something I'd usually associate with Prince. So for fear of dragging this thread out (which I have) I'd just like to say that as one of the better songs on the album I'm intrigued as to how he happened upon it and what his influence was at that time. And whilst I'm on the album... beginning of Let's Have a Baby, sped up. Any moment Michael Sembello is gonna chirp in with "Just a Steel Town girl on a Saturday night... She's a maniac, maniac on the floor!" [Edited 4/22/08 1:02am]
