It's a brilliant track, and one that sorts the men from the boys! - so to speak.

Casual listeners definately do not (in my experience) get this kind of thing, or Prince's humour in general. Tends to go completely over their heads.

Oh well!

I always envisioned P in "Christopher Tracy" mode with this song.

I also for some reason just really love when he says, "U're cute and your music's thumpin'."

This is exactly the genius and innovation that I see missing in his present work.

I thought he touched upon it slightly with TRC, not lyrically but musically, but I mean it has to drive him nuts knowing that these outtakes often recorded very quickly are better than anything in the last 10 years from him

Some songs like Crystal Ball, Electic Intercourse, Extra Lovable will never be topped. I mean listen to that Crystal Ball in terms of instrumentation, lyrics, groove, sheer insanity, and for sounding nothing like the radio Prince people knew.

That's what I expect out of him. Not a copy of Crystal Ball, but a new opus.

Not the boring new r&b stuff I found on 3121.

aalloca I understand what you mean. I've been listening to "Crystal Ball" and "The Jewel Box Set 80-91" lately and some of the stuff on there is just smokin'. He was in a real creative zone in 85 thru 87.

"Sexual Suicide", "Data Bank", "Wonderful Ass", "If You Break My Heart", "Good Love", "Crucial", "Neon Telephone", ""Crystal Ball", "Witness" (slow hard rock version), "Moviestar"....these jams would have made a killer LP.

And I agree (with you) that this is what I miss about P in his current music.
