Cmon princey take a leaf out of Bowie's book.... You've got classics just waiting for the go ahead....you cant be that ashamed of your past
Bowie to release 1972 Ziggy bootleg David Bowie will release a widely bootlegged live recording taken from his first US tour in 1972, when he transformed himself into his androgynous, alien rocker alter ego Ziggy Stardust. David Bowie: Live Santa Monica 72 is taken from a show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles. The October 20 concert was recorded by a now-defunct radio station and underground copies have made the show a fan favourite. Bowie is also fond of the recording, according to a statement released by EMI Music Marketing. "We trainwreck a couple of things, I miss some words and sometimes you wouldn't know that pianist Mike Garson was onstage with us, but overall I really treasure this bootleg. [Late guitarist] Mick Ronson is at his blistering best," Bowie was quoted as saying. About half of the tracks from his 1972 studio album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars appear on the disc, including concert opener Hang On To Yourself and Suffragette City. Tunes from such earlier releases as Hunky Dory and The Man Who Sold the World also made the set list. Additionally, Bowie previewed The Jean Genie which would appear on his 1973 album Aladdin Sane. The CD and double vinyl versions of the release will include photos taken at the show and a reprint of Los Angeles Times pop music critic Robert Hilburn's review.

Agree, Bowie also quickly said fuck it after recording some pop style 'phil collins' like arena music in the 80's and became very experimental in the 90 beyond.
Quit worrying about hits and become experimental P..record something cutting edge that would blow minds. Love P's music/live shoe but time to freak them all out one more time..G

Because that's when I bought it. Nah, it was a box set that had a T-shirt & a keychain with a metal copy of the concert ticket included. Very official.

I would love to see P release an experimental album full of Songs. Kind of like Bowie's "Outside". It almost seem's like P's stuff way back was commercial yet experimental sounding for P. Now it's just the NPG soul sound often, I do like it but it's been played out long. Prince is great and usually records his own music and does everything. The downfall in doing that is you don't let others take the spotlight with you if you do everything. How can you grow as an artist if you eat up everything Larry G says and don't let the musicians in your own band co-write songs/record new music? Zappa knew.

There is nothing commercial in it. Masterpiece. It's not because a cd is not full of electronic sounds that it can be considered as such. By the way, Outside is a cd I play at least once a week. I love it. Bowie at his best.
