Thanks for the follow-up and insight Blackguitaristz! I knew you were a logical/rational brotha who would speak the truth on the topic either way. That is when this site is most refreshing and informative. Often, it is hard to discern fact from fiction, especially when emotions enter the field of play. I know that I have posted facts on here before and folks were so emotionally charged that they totally dismissed them. However, I never have a problem acknowledging if I am mistaken about facts. That's why I appreciate your post so much. As much as folks try to dismiss your comments around here, you have shown yourself to be reasonable and I respect that big time. thumbs up!

Thanx for the very kind words. U know, to be fair to the folks on here, like I mentioned in this thread; I always get props and compliments from folks on here. Yeah, a few people got emotional because I said at first, I believed it to be about race. Cuz I did. But after hearing what I heard, and only because I myself had heard this with my own ears, then I knew when I heard folks cheering P up untill Jack U off, then I was like "nah, they just can't get with this song." I can't speak on the second show, cuz I haven't heard that one. But like I also mentioned on this thread and on the others, I think the crowd for the second gig didn't really give a fuck about P, but it was something fun for them to do. Bring a bunch a shit to throw. Which DEFINATELY isn't cool. Be it Prince or Elvis Costello. Doesn't matter. So yeah, after hearing it, I mainly wanted to let other folks, who also believed it to be about race, I wanted to let them know, from me, that it wasn't. That's all.

Dude..You're a really cool cat. i really dig your open mind.

bgz, I have to give you props for being such a stand-up guy and admitting that your initial views were mistaken - especially when it is such an emotive issue.
Not a lot of people would have done that. You proved yourself to be a real class act. Thanks for sharing your objective views on what took place.

Very kind words....thank u.

I trully think the experience of P getting booed gave him even more drive. More determination, the whole 9.

I can see him getting booed for singing a song like "Jack U Off" and his appearance would make people think he was singing to a man also. However, if I was him I wouldn't give a damn if they didn't like it and would have told the audience from the very first boo...."Maybe I am singing to a man and if you don't like it, motherfucker you can jack me off". Then I would have took my ass right back to my R&B fans who were buying my music in the first place and weren't booing at the concerts. Let me stop lying because I would have never opened for The Stones anyway because I wouldn't want a pop/rock audience. lol

what blows my mind is how many people actually say they were there (sort of like being in Hershey,Pa. when Wilt scored 100)...they make it seem like as soon as he hit the stage it was boo city and i believed them bcuz you can get to the Coliseum (then Raider games) early and really get some partying in before going in and letting loose.

thanks for another perspective.

I totally agree.

Not everyone can admit when they change their minds. We get into arguments and it seems like it does't matter what anyone says, we're going to think what we think no matter what!

Notice this thread isn't quite as hot as the other one, though hmmm You can understand why the media only focuses on negatives. It gets better ratings.

It has to be one of the most popular "urban legend" things in music. Granted, P did get booed off stage on the second show. But clearly, not the first. If he had only not played Jack U Off, then he would have been set. Cuz the fans were digging it. Probably would have went on to play the rest of the Stones concert dates too. P was booked for more than just those two Stones shows in L.A. I bet P was like "Fucking Mick and Dez...I should have never listened to those motherfuckers!". Cuz u know, P split back home and left the band there in L.A. Dez and Mick had to talk P into coming back for the second show and P did it. Only for it to be a lot worse. But yeah, it's widely reported that P got booed off the stage on the first gig....Simply is not true. I'm kinda surprised that P left his band there in L.A. while he flew home. I'm surprised that P got that "shaken" from the folks only booing on song. I mean, they were cool for the last two. And besides, what did P expect? Singing some shit like that? But I guess P wouldn't have been P if he hadn't had sung it.

i'm so relieved 2 hear they got through the set despite the jeers..4 a little guy, prince is like his father - 2 bold!
it's easy 2 imagine how uncomfortable the guys in the crowd must've felt during jack u off...were any of them brave enuff 2 look like they were enjoying the song, u know, dancing around & singing along 2 that very catchy chorus?
prince is a riot! & he's also had the last laff!
[Edited 4/18/08 19:19pm]

True. And you're right, if cats in the audience had acted like they dug Jack U Off, they could have very possibly gotten fucked up by others in the crowd.
