the next prince??

Hi everyone this is my first post so go easy on me, ok? smile

So I read somewhere on line that people are calling Corbin Bleu of High School Musical the next Prince. Apparently he has a song out there called Shake It Off that is an ode to Prince. I've heard it, he does a Prince-esque falsetto on it and in interviews he has said that he really looks up to Prince.

Obviously the kid isn't anywhere near Prince, not even sure if he can play any instruments and he's a product of Disney. But I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about him or this song?

corbin bleu = bootleg prince
he can dream and aspire to be like him why shouldnt he, prince is the epitome of success as an artist. But people shouldnt put Corbin that high to compare him to a man that has worked so hard and achieved so much, their creating enough room for him to fall.

Yeah, the kid's cute but look where Prince was at his age! Producing, composing, writing, playing every instrument.

Hopefully Corbin will be able to break out of the Disney mold one day

I thought I would mention here that the closest to Prince's singing/music I've heard recently is ne.yo in his 'Sex With My Ex' from his 'because of you' album. I don't really know anything about the guy, as I've gone through the album only once so far, but on that song he comes very close to Prince's style [the voice, the beat, melody, etc.].
Don't know anything about Corbin bleu.

"the next prince??"

I hope I'm not turning knives in wounds here, but I wish it could be his son...

No offence to the poster, but personally I find it extremely offensive to compare a jackass in a disney musical to Prince.

Seriously, man.
...he's just a disney kid...Like Spears...or our beloved Justin.
And he doesn't even have the star power of JT or Spears. *shudders*
He'll be in some "Where are they now" feature in JET magazine not soon from now.

HAhaha! That so looks like Axl Rose!!!!

No! Personally it dosn't matter how much 'sound' like Prince - if you didn't write, produce, and play the instruments on the song, then you will never be another Prince! It's what makes Prince different, and makes his music his art!!

Musicians who sing other peoples songs are no different to artists that paint by numbers!!!!!

OK - I tried to listen to the song and could not make it all the way through.

So, naive media definition of Prince: "multi-racial looking, small frame, high voice" - he must be the next Prince!

Informed perspective on Prince: multi-talented musician, entertainer, vocal range, "thinks music", prolific, challenges current norms, etc: no way is this kid the next Prince.

I feel bad people are making the comparison - he may a nice kid, but he'll never live up to it.
