Funny, I just hit the CD/Game Exchange yesterday to futher fill out my Prince collection. They had the Black Album there for 10 bucks. I had heard snippets of it before, but I didn't like what I heard. Thus, I didn't get it, but if it's as valuable as people say, maybe I should pick it up??

To clear things up:

The Black Album was pressed twice: in 1987 and in 1994. The initial pressing in 1987 was destroyed (due to Prince's decision not to release the album), but, as it happens, a few copies survived. These items are quite valuable and are not easy to find, although I've got a copy of the 1987 pressing Black Album on vinyl (lucky me).

The 1994 pressings are also rare (as the album is not in print anymore), however one should easily find it if necessary. Plus the prices are not that high. Of course there are some promo copies, but these are usually highly priced per se, so nothing really surprising here.

BTW the white vinyl version goes for A LOT more than $75 since it was a limited promo release of 250 copies... The peach vinyl goes for around $75 and the grey vinyl, which is the rarest of the 4 with a limited promo release of 50 copies, goes for mucho money...
