It is a direction musically Prince should have ventured into a little more...the song was the best thing off of the Come album...video was pretty decent....

Really? I think Loose! is one of the worst songs he ever did. Nice that he's experimenting with sounds and genre's, but this just isn't his style, leave it to those who can make it work. Along with solo and orgasm, it's what makes Come as an album out of sync.

why is loose always labeled a "techno" song. it sure as hell doesn't
sound like any kind of techno i've ever heard.

imo it's just another fast paced rock tune with lots of electronics
thrown into the mix.

ohhhh so cheesy! so was "Papa" and "Dark" on that same album.
He was doing so many cheesy tunes in the 90's i swear he even started looking like a wet rat.

i wouldnt put it in the techno bracket either, its more acid rock style , what techno songs have u heard that have guitar solos drenched over it.

Thing about this song is a completely different style for P which at the time and now is cool

Wasn't crazy over it when it came out...agree it seemed cheesy as hell. But have been listening to that one a lot lately...my iPod seems to love it...and the guitar on this song is HOT! Its one of the few 90s/NPG era Prince songs my girlfriend likes...its becoming one of my fave songs.

Funky - its more techno than rock, my friend. That 4-on-the-floor beat together with the totally techno inspired keyboard riff and bass make it more techno than almost anything Prince has done - simply put, its techno, just Prince style. So what if it has guitars? A style of music isn't defined by the instruments used, its more to do with rhythm and feel - artists that break the standard mould by changing aspects of its usual presentation should be applauded.

I've always enjoyed Loose!, even though it wouldn't be what your standard techno-purist would ever admit to enjoying. That said, I remember a techno-ish version of Come on the video The Beautiful Experience, which I thought was wonderful. I'm in the same camp as those that wish he had delved a little further in to making modern electronica, especially given his early-80s experiments in the synth world were so bold and significant.

Prince in the 80's was ground-breaking, exploratory, adventurous.

As much as I love his music, his modern stuff just sounds so tired and safe. He's probably a better musician than he's ever been, but I sure would like to be excited about a Prince tune again. He's the only one who can combine the hard rock guitar with the super-heavy beat and soul-singing prettier than a sunrise.

Let's see what the next CD sounds like...

I think that the "Cream" maxi single had the best results as electronic music, way back in 91 with "Q in doubt" and especially "Ethereal Mix" and those weren't cheesy at all.
Of course i believe those were remixed by Junior Vazquez,.... a club staple back in the day

I own the "Cream" maxi single btw solely for "Get Some Solo" love it, but its way too short.
