Dortmund live 88 video; If I Had A Harem. I finally got it! From the very first moment I saw it back on video as soon as I returned from Germany, I knew I heard the horn arrangement in If I Had A Harem before. It took me 19 years! While probably all you hardcore fans already know about it. The horn arrangement just before Prince starts plucking that guitar and doing his silly walks and starts solo-ing, know what I mean? So. Let's make it a contest. Tell me. Who knows what Atlanta and Eric are playing there? The winner gets applause! |

Damn. It's indeed in The Vault, so not contest worthy! It's Charlie Parker's Billie's Bounce. Funny, though. I love hearing other people's music Prince and his band nicked. Nice. Love that song. |

I'm sorry but this arrangement is a jazz cliche that you find in other very old horns arrangements. I'm gonna find the Duke Ellington's one where the exact same melody is played. [Edited 4/16/08 11:29am] | |
