Honestly, I'd have to go with Chaos and Disoder. There are more songs that I like on C&D than on Planet Earth but I don't think PE is Prince's worst album either. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Chaos & Disorder.
It sounds like a cohesive album. The songs aren't necessarily that much better, but one of the notable things about C&D is how the songs flow into one another. My Legacy

Oh no...you seem to have forgotten to do so & posted a follow-up to your own question. [Flame snipped - June7] love Anji answered his question in great detail. U just have 2 follow the thread, and read the posts before posting, that's all. His answer is just 2 replies down from the original post. THAT being said, I don't like any "album vs. album" threads or thinking, but if I must answer, then it is 'Planet Earth' all the way. "BorisFishPaw" and "Anji" have both nailed it pretty well. ...and 4 those who R saying there's no "fire" in 'Planet Earth', how do U hear the title song from the 5:00 mark until the end? There is pure Prince all over this album. On some songs, he uses voices he hasn't used in ages. The mix is perfect on every song. The guitar is prominent, funky, fierce, and melodic. The album has a perfect sequence. The only bad thing about 'Planet Earth' is "Mr Goodnight", which could've been great, if it weren't 4 the generic drum programming, and if he had sung the lines, instead of the spoken word style... he could have had one verse spoken and the rest of the verses sung though. That would've worked. [Edited 6/5/08 8:05am] i listen 2 it with a and and with the xperession of waiting 4 it 2 end so the torture can end. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The screams R out of this world... they sound like they're sampled from "Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)". The guitar explodes, then goes into a beatiful Hendrix-like descending run. How can anyone not like the climax 2 "Planet Earth", beginning at exactly 5:00?? "He's a musician's musician..."

It could have worked as a b-side or on Emancipation, Crystal Ball, maybe My Legacy

I just happen 2 love the whole song, and I have always loved "3 Chains O' Gold" as well (in its entirety). Peace. ~G "He's a musician's musician..."

i adore the 'chaos & disorder' album. he had something to say on that album, he knew what he was saying and who he wanted to say it to. he was pissed off and wanted to throw one last tantrum against WB. that album has REAL energy on it, even if it's bitter, snitty energy. at least it's genuine.
planet earth is like oatmeal filtered through panty hose by comparison. i don't know what that meant, but it seemed apt.

I think it is unreasonable comparing these 2 albums. They are both masterpieces in their own right.
Completely 2 different gernes. Sam 8) Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

They are very similar, huh? Both are flawed albums that feel tossed-off, with good first halves and weak back halves, and stronger rock tracks than R&B ones. But they both have some real nice moments that feel loose and vulnerable.
I'd have to go with C&D by a hair though, I like the pissed-off vibe that comes through. Planet Earth does sometimes feel a bit too much like "product" [Edited 6/7/08 9:34am]

(At least about the Planet Earth part - I actually kinda like 3 Chains.) I don't think I've ever actually made it to the 5:00 of PE without >> to about 4:55. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
