'God' The track

OK - I just forced myself to listen to 'God' (I usually skip this track within a couple of seconds) and now I know why - Good grief, what an awful track!
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..

The vocals are a touch harsh lol.

The instrumental version is a classic though great guitar work guitar

The only way that I know the instrumental version is where you hear it on the movie Purple Rain, when Prince begins to make love to AppleOnion. I think that the instrumental is WAY better than the song. Classic.

Never been a lover of it myself either!

The actual piano piece and the sung lyrics are ok. It's the involutary noises that I don't get on with.

I love it when Prince screams, but the sounds on this track are more like a squealing pig and other farm animals.

It's like when you watch those clips of freaky hardcore religous groups on youtube that just shout and scream and make weird noises due to the power of God!

These are the images the song leaves me with when it ends, so I tend to steer clear if I can.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like it - for a moment I thought I was! (although I understand that I'm in the minority) i couldnt get past the first minute or so - its all the tourettes style noises, I thought it to be drug induced nonsense - the kind of thing you get when you give a toddler a microphone.

Anyway, its one of the very few prince tracks I can't stand, so I'll stop the negativity and go post something positive now to balance out my karma!

The instrumental version is far superior to the vocal, IMO.

falloff but the truth (but that tends to be the truth for a lot of Prince songs).

I really loved it back then, the oewah's and aaawwwws gave me chills.
Haven't heard it for a very long time but am sure I would still love it.

Yeah, the music is fantastic, but his vocals are unbearable. I'm very thankful it was not included on Purple Rain.

Different strokes for different folks. I always loved how the vocals are completely out of the box. Its part of the reason I really liked Prince. He was unafraid to take it there.

I like it, but I think it's because it's Prince. I couldn't take that noise from anybody else! nod
