Sound problems on Purple Rain dvd: Blu-Ray too?

Hello!

I'm thinking about finally getting into Blu-Ray, and of course, wanna grab Purple Rain. However, there are annoying sound editing issues on the dvd, and I just wanna know if I should be prepared for the same disappointment when I get the Blu-Ray. Here're the problems:

-Right before Jungle Love, as Morris and Jerome corner Prince in the wings, you can hear Jerome say "so se-" before Morris even speaks his own line. Jerome then delivers "so sexy" as normal.
-During the confrontation with Wendy in the dressing room, Wendy should say "you know, you can really hurt people." However, the "you know" is missing from the track.
-In the suicide scene, the (very creepy) sound effect of the Father's gun cocking is missing from the track. There is only silence.
-at the 5:38 mark in Purple Rain, the whole timbre of the track changes drastically to the high-end. I have a hunch the film always had this problem, and it was just less-evident on VHS. But I don't remember it being so jarring on the original (1997) dvd, either!

So, Blu-Ray owners, are these problems still there? And are there any others I might have missed?

It's definitely consistent on all players, though I should be clear that I'm talkin' about the 2-disc Special Edition dvd, not the old '97 release! smile

I have the 2 disc dvd, and nothing messes up on it. It once got stuck on the part where Jerome bothers The Kid after the Darling Nikki performance, but it doesn't mess up anymore. biggrin

And I haven't watched it on VHS in 10 years. cool

I'm not actually talking about the dvd 'messing up'; I'm talking about a dodgy sound mix.

Check out the scenes I'm talking about, and compare them to the '97 dvd or the VHS... hear the difference? smile

Dunno about the sound issues you mentioned they could be original sound transfer problems and therefore be on all format releases. However let me recommend the blu-ray it's fantastic. Sound and picture are amazing. Some of the old releases coming onto the format are not much better than the dvd versions, but Purple Rain is fantastic. Now where are Sign o' the times and graffiti bridge??

!!

Would somebody please check the scenes I've mentioned on their own two-disc Purple Rain, and tell me if they've got the same problems??? confused

I gave my mom the '97 release of it and checked hers as well, it works fine you might have just gotten a bad copy of it. It has been known to happen from time to time( I had a couple I bought from my local store and I had to take them back)

Just watched my blu-ray copy for the first time since I bought it and there are absolutely no sound issues and as Rorywan said the picture quality is fantastic.

Thank you so much, purpleparty3000... that's all I ask. wink

'Cause it's not 'bad sound' I'm talking about, it's actual missing dialogue and sound effects, probably accidentally dropped in the remix to 5.1
