Wall said: What a pathetic performance. Put another nail in his creative coffin.
And what a sad, American program to perform upon. It's telling that Prince apparently thinks Jay Leno is the spot to go when he wants to hit the American airwaves. Performances, and songs, such as this (when taking into consideration his studio output for the better part of twenty years) should bring into focus how Prince is not a genius, just a talented pop star who had a nice run from 1980-1987. He dampens his legacy with each new outing and album. And I guarantee his upcoming festival show today will be nothing by a boring, by the numbers hits review. Damn Wall...You've outdone yourself with this one...LOL...It's funny...When you first came to this site, I thought you were just a cat that spoke his mind about Prince, no matter what folks said on the Org...I thought your posts were quite refreshing (considering the fact that a lot of folks on the Org would praise Prince's farts...)....But over the past year or so, you have been heading into a whole other direction...You have officially become a caricature...Your hate (you've crossed that line from keeping it real to being just plain ol miserable) is as predictable as the Prince set list you obsessively criticize...It's now gone into the land of Shock Posting... Where's the old Wall at? The ome that didn't have to go into overblown revisionist history to make his point...I wouldn't mind reading those posts again...Cuz this other shit I'm reading is a joke...LOL

Murph, Anxiety, Mendes...
Now we are talking...cool things about this performance Prince live Awesome that it was a new song! Although P already has a song called Loose..hmm The beginning was Prince people...it was staged - he stalled like he was debating playing and the woman were telling his to get out there and sing it! He also did it to get the crowd hyped which he did - they were nutso! Always good to see when P is live on TV The performance could have used more energy but as Anx pointed out its got that festival sound to it- good point - imagine being outside watching P listeing to this song - great summer joint! The lelisha girl everyone has been talking bout was in the middle with the fro and on that note I liked the girls - way mo betta than the twinz - however the girl singing at the end could have been cleaner - Prince's reaction is classic! The entire perfomance had that Vegas 3121 afterparty vibe which was cool 2 see Set was bad-ass! one of his best on live TV...IMO - the BAD-ASS pic hanging in the background!!! Lets hope its the new CD cover!! Good job P [Edited 4/26/08 10:53am] The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Good job P On the real, thanks 2020...But don't get it twisted...I thought the performance was not among his best since he made the Musicology come back...In fact, other than the guitar playing (I dig it when he plays rhythm as well as lead-rock...He has a great feel for that...) it was pretty bland for my taste...But again, my post was less about that and more about folks that are going beyond the call of duty in their criticism... It's like criticizing the performance is not enough for some of these folks...LOL....They have to go into whether or not Prince is happy (frankly, I don't care about that shit one bit...lol) or analalyzing his love for albums on whether or not he plays them live...(that shit may be true to a point, but he hasn't played a lot of Rainbow Children, easily one of his best albums over the last 10 years...So that means Prince doesn't dig R.C.?) The bottom line is we should all be able to criticize Prince when we want to...But shock posters should be called out...People that just come on this site to antagonize the nutjobs on the Org (and u know who you are...lol) should be called out...If you really have nothing to contribute to a real spirited discussion then I don't see any reason to take such folks seriously...

the tune has potential, if he wasn't yelling/shreiking it. it's kind of dull, but there's something in there to work with, i suppose.

Nag, nag, nag!
I like this song. I like the Seventies vibe it has, with a little bit of the Sixties, Chuck Berry. I'm going to play it a few times more!

WE LOVE THE FUNK YES WE DO!! but the SLY/GRAHAM stuff on live TV can be tired sometimes, I think whatnis is we are craving not the old Prince but that PRINCE SOUND
the realm of PFUNK-BLACKSWEAT-3121 etc yes we love PARTY PRINCE But we like to hear that SEXY IN YOUR FACE PRINCE! this is what was missing ...and not to say that he needed to perform these particular songs it's the arrangement, but im sure he has many versions of this new song up his sleeve so we just have to stay tuned

Thanks Serpan with the pics, you are the man! I've played the song a few times since last night and Turn Me Loose is still a cool song with me. Not the best but not the worst and it isn't groundbreaking but I don't think it was intended to be. It's a light-hearted song that's funky. I admit, it's a 70's kind of funk that I personally would like to see Prince break away from, but it's funky nonetheless and I had fun with it as it appeared Prince had fun with it too. It was too short but then again, I'm a Prince fan, I always want more with him. I wasn't disappointed. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The performance was really cool. I enjoyed the set layout the most. Beautiful spring colors and I'm so lovin the feature of Marva, Shelby and Ledisi. Whomever designed this performance took the time to really do a good job. It reminded me a bit of the Sign Of The Times band/tour. The song was aight too
That was the first complete and harmonious balance I've seen from Prince in a really long time. He seemed extremely happy. Props to the crew and the surprises in store for tonight at Coachella Why You Jive Turkey You....

You're a little mixed up. The "lelisha girl" is Ledisi and she was the one singing "solo" at the end of the song. The woman with the afro, in the middle, was Marva King who performed at the O2 shows this past fall, and the other woman with the long hair was Shelby J. (also performed at the O2 shows).
