i wondered about the very beginning also.... there was definitely some confusion, but you never know with prince whether its staged or not.. he always looks like he's got something up his sleeve | |

i taped it! Princce's new song "turn me loose" is A-OK.  i'll have to re-watch it & pay close attention 2 the background art, will be hard not 2 look @ Prince but i wanna see if it might be a new cd cover like u guys said!  [Edited 4/25/08 22:01pm]  wish U were here baby, on me--

I thought this new song was horrible. My girl and I sat through an equally boring and terrible Jay Leno show with about 90% more commercials than show... really, does anybody watch TV anymore?
Anyway, this new song was flat, boring, and utterly worthless. Yet ANOTHER song about how his online fans "don't know him" and that they should "give him what he needs". "Turn Me Loose" makes "Get on the Boat" look like Mozart.  Give it a rest already.
And what kind of band was that? About a hundred people on stage. The only bright spot was Renato, who is a real trooper to lower himself to play such beautiful keys to such low quality music -- what a mess of a song. Embarrassingly bad -- a performance and song that wouldn't appeal to a person who was 18 or 80 or even the mentally ill. I felt ashamed watching it with my girl.

Haha...I took a nap and set my alarm for when Prince would start. I thought the set looked like a southern living room. I know that was Ledsi and two other fabulous ladies...but being from the south they made me think of my grandma on a porch somewhere yelling for somebody to sit down! I loved the song and liked the whole living room feel...True..it reminded me of "Sistas sittin' in church with fans" and getting into the groove of the music. I thought that was cool. I'm not that familiar with Ledisi, but she's popular on the East Coast.. The setup also, reminded me of a scene in a juke joint and the ladies gettin' into the music. Loved that artwork in the back also. | |

I liked the song. It was good, not spectacular though.
I really disliked how the 3 background singers were sitting in the background through most of it like 3 old ladies. And the song was too short! But I'm glad he did something new. Overall, good performance but it didn't blow me away like I was hoping for. Edit: And who is this "Ledisi" you guys keep making a big deal about? Never heard of her. [Edited 4/25/08 22:07pm] | |

I'm sure you'd rather listen to Rhianna. As far as him having "100 people on stage". He had 4 horn players, and 3 background singers. That's HARDLY 100 people!!! I think the lyrics meant anything about his online fans. I think it was a sexual song (Gasp! A Prince Song about sex!). I did think that the song was a little short. But I'm sure the album version is longer. Like I said before, if you didn't like the song or performance, maybe you just aren't a Prince fan. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!! | |
