I agree with all the above. I think you've covered all of the points... except for the part about Mayte. But I haven't listened to Emancipation yet, so I can't really say I stand one way or the other unless I get ALL of the facts. Right now, though, I still believe they were the perfect couple... or so they seemed.  But I'm not gonna start to fathom what happened because that would fall under his personal/private life.
That's something else we can add to the list. A worshipper wants to know every aspect of Prince's private life as well as his life in the public eye. When he disappears for even a couple of weeks without being in the news, they start worry. A fan (or even something above a fan) believes that Prince should have his privacy and only go as far as the music will allow them and then some.   had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. A Prince fan can laugh at Prince and not feel bad about it because a fan knows that his music is the most important thing about him and that fan also believes that deep down inside, Prince agrees and is laughing with him/her...or maybe Prince isn't laughing, in which case, we're laughing at him and he's just not laughing...oh, well, he'll be okay. Who doesn't laugh at their friends?

A fan is happy with their own level of fandom and doesn't feel the need to define themselves.
A Fam (worshipper) feels the need to tell everyone how it should work, all the while, going against Prince's wishes (Idolisation, continual picture posting etc). They have 10 albums, 10 ticket stubs and 10,000 pictures. Selective Contradiction. . | |
