The reason I'm asking is because at times there seems to be a lot of animosity towards Prince as an individual, and as a musician, and I was hoping that by taking the time to really think through who Prince is to each of us, what it is that is the epitomy of "Princeness", as it were, that maybe people could get back to the basics of what drew them to Prince in the first place.  | |

Sorry guys but I couldn't do it. It's a difficult question. A bit like trying to keep only one food item in your kitchen. You need several ingredients to make a good recipe, and without the whole range of songs, Prince's music wouldn't be the same. Especially since he's all about diversity himself. At the moment I'm listening to White Mansion, but my player is on random and includes several other artists. With about 1500 songs, it's great cause you never know what's coming next (I like to be surprised). | |

It goes without saying that "Gold" is that particular song. I responded to it the moment I heard the first notes being played. Time and time again, I'd hear the lyrics and deep down, I'd react to them in some way so that I'm better than I was b4 I picked up the song/album. Whenever I find myself in a rut, I pick up this song and one of the lyrics jumps out and gives me hope. Overall, that's what Prince's music has done for me. It gives me hope and courage, helping me find the strength within myself to press on.  had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone | |
