What's the problem with the "rap" style

Most people here seem to STRONGLY dislike it whenever Prince delves into rap-like deliveries. Now I've heard:

- Funky Design
- Face Down
- Mr. Happy
- Days of Wild
- My Name is Prince
- Undisputed (which EVERYONE hates)
- 18 & Over
- Silicon (not really "rap", but widely depsised it seems)
- The Flow
- Push
- Pussy Control
- Now
- Da Da da
- Hot Wit U (nasty girl remix)

Personally, I'd love an entire disc with this type of content. it would beat the living hell out of ONA. Is it ME? Do ALL of these songs suck? Am I the ONLY one that enjoys this stuff?

OK, I left off "Jughead", although I Don't HATE it.

I love Prince's rap style. Even though it is more like rhythmic talking than rapping. His verse in Da Da Da is so awesome!!! Same with Mr.Happy!! Have you heard the Come On Single? He does a HUGE rap on that CD with Chaka Kahn and Larry Graham!

Well to be honest I like 18 & Over a lot... its very Come album and was infact on one of the early versions...
I also love Da, da, da but Prince doesnt rap on that someone else does... but the rest are quite bad and u forgot a few ...
I'd say HouseQuake and Dead On It are also rap-esque...
but One Nite Alone is a mundane piece of work... but then u cant say that all Prince piano stuff is naff... Condition of the heart; How Come U dont call me anymore...

I like the smooth,sexy talking style(Muse 2 The Pharoah,Undisputed Moneyopolis Mix)and the foul mouthed stuff(Pussy Control,18+over)
But he can shove The Flow up his ass.

eye M the DJ

The P (I like this tune a wee bit)

Work that Fat

Nuff Said...

Well, maybe not nuff said. I just feel that Prince has had more stinkers with rap as a genre than any other field he's dabbled in.

Also, I kinda feel that Funky Design is a bit wack, and there is a point in Acknowledge Me where he just loses it. "Like a whore, I'm yours, acknowledge me baby, what are you waiting for!" WACK.

Oddly enough, his weakest joint (by overall org consensus) "The P" has quite a cadence to it. Well...at least until he starts into the "Oh! I need the boom! Oh!" etc.

And I think he penned a good chunk of the Carmen Electra songs.

But there again, there's "Johnny," which I just adore.

Once again, he's Prince, so there are plenty of gems, and a couple of flat out Diamonds and Pearls, but the worst stinkers are a bit too rancid even for me to give into.

His Rapping is Corny,no Real Flow&Tries too Hard IMHO.now when He does a Cut like "Irrestible Bitch" or"Get Off" without trying so Hard or that Hip-Hop Break in "Lady Cab Driver" it works but more often than Not it's Comical IMHO.

I like *most* of the songs you listed--except I, too, hate Undisputed. But P Control, Funky Design, Days of Wild, Face Down (one of my favorites), and several others are some of my favorite Prince songs. Period.
