Why did Prince stop working with Kip Blackshire? I always wondered why did Prince stop working with Kip. Kip not only provided soulful and gospel-inflected vocals but I have heard some of his solo stuff and his music, writing, and singing trumps 98% of the contemporary Black music heard on the radio and and seen on television. I enjoyed his work on the "The Rainbow Children" album, the Hit-N-Run tour and on the "Daisy Chain". However, with all of Prince's professional relationships it's all about the short-term. Same with John Blackwell, who was willing to contine playing with him after the "Musicology" tour, whenever Prince's drops a new album and re-tools his band hopefully he'll them around for longer than a tour or album. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Kip had to do his own thing at some point.. I don't thinkt hat it was a negative ending.. Kip did mess-up the chorus of a song at a concert that I attended..Nobody seemed to care.. I'm not even sure that he missed his cue at all because Prince mixes his songs in medleys often. [Edited 4/8/08 14:36pm]

Prince stops working with almost everyone of his band members eventually, some come back some don't. Kip's over at youtube and making great music. You should go say hi, he's a nice guy! http://youtube.com/user/blackshiremusic [Edited 4/8/08 14:34pm]
