i started out a hater years ago ...i couldnt stand the guy...but there was something in the music that i just couldnt/still cant describe...it just puled me in ...had me researching someone i thought i couldnt stand...
little by little i collected stuff that blew me away...when i first saw/heard 1999 video...that sound ...it didnt belong in that era...way ahead of its time...then i got into when doves cry..sounded like only 2 instruments being played..then found out there was no bass line (funk without bass???)i was listening to David Copperfield of music.... How old are you people that believe Prince to be the best musician ever??? There's no way to pick who the best musician of all time is, we can only merely suggest our personal favorites. As a one man band, Prince may be one of the best. Other than that category.....well, you get the picture. Back in the 80's when I was a closed minded doofus, I thought that Prince was the best thing since sliced bread. My mind was not swayed until I started listening to what else was out there. FREE YOUR MIND, & YOUR ASS WILL FOLLOW!

However, Although you have a point, in relation to the topic in question it is actually quite banal and argumentative for the sake of arguing! Because of it I actually feel the need to have draw to your attention that as this forum is geared around Prince and fans of him and his music, it is actually quite common and even expected that these views and opinions, of his greatness, will crop up from time to time! If this was a generic music forum, then your point would probably be alot more valid and appreciated. I'm sure that many of us are well aware that other music other than Prince's is available to us, as much as I'm pretty sure that we appreciate and love it just as much!
