I really do like this song. It might be my favorite track off the '3121' album. The song has got such a nice feel and flow to it I think. What do you all think of the (short) guitar solo near the end of this song. I love it. It does have a kind of Santana style to it, especially in the beginning of his solo. Anyway, I wish that it would have gone on just a bit longer, same as with the solo on 'The One U Wanna See' from the 'Planet Earth' album, but its still great nonetheless. Anyone else on here dig the guitar playing on this song?

Great soulful song as well. I'm really getting into this album. It's still pretty new to my ears in fact. I actually got the 'Planet Earth' album first.

and don't u wish he continued in the vein of 3121 instead of going in2 planet mess?

I'm not really sure. I can't say that Planet Earth is not an enjoyable album. It has some strong songs on it for sure. In what ways do you think the 2 albums differ the most from each other?

one is funky (3121) and the other is lame (PE)
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

2 me, the Word is up there with tunes like soul sanctuary - classic and befitting of the word "beautiful."

yes, the solo is sweet like honey.
