Are you still happy with the scraps from Prince's table?

Pfunk.

Are you still feasting off it? Did you expect him to give you, as supporters, more of what you wanted? Did you expect an avalanche of new songs? Are you happy he hasn't said one peep since releasing that song? I just can't believe people were bought off so easily lol

Personally, I'm glad I wasn't wooed and that I don't really care about Prince's future exploits lol

Scraps?

Yes, I would rather have a crumb of Prince's guitar licks, than a Smorgasboard of music from your house.

Honestly I think Prince has been pulling stuff out of the vault and releasing it as new material since before Musicology.

He does a little studio work, and voila. New material.

I'm willing to guess he's probably amassing a whole mess of new and brilliant material -- we're just not given any of it. Prince admitted back in 2005 that he was still constantly recording new stuff. I just don't think we're being given much of it right now.

i remember hearing some really interesting studio stuff played at the chicago prince parties at berlin last year, including a reworking of "sexy mf" (without the "mf", naturally) and a studio version of "sexy dancer/le freak" that was played live in london that fall. i don't know why he won't release this stuff officially. it sounded fantastic, even if i was a bit tipsy when i heard it!

Supa, you're my boy but what's the point of this? If people are getting by with F.U.N.K. so what? You may be ticked at Prince but others aren't so live and let live, It's not that hard, ya know?

i'm digging on other music too much right now to mull over what prince is doing one way or the other. when he decides to grace our lives with a new project or a tour, i'll be ready, but until then i have plenty to keep me occupied and distracted. he can just go on doing whatever it is he's doing, it's all right with me. shrug

Exactly, play what you wanna play. If it isn't Prince, so what? If it is, so what? That's just me.

bsides supa we got erykah 2 support and listen 2 music
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

One last thing, all of y'all saying you don't care what Prince is doing right now or even in the future, cool enough, but even with that, all ya asses will be right here when news of the new CD drops. Even if you feel a wave a superiority in trying to knock other people for still being interested in the new stuff, song or album, you'll be here. That's what always happens here. No one ever truely leaves.

it's filet mignong alright. it's just that for the last 7 years that
filet has been getting so tough and leathery that you can't even cut
it with a knife anymore since there's more sinew than marbling. only
way to get the taste now is to suck on it, real real hard. it's juice
yeah, and it's better than nothing. but it's a waste of the skillet
to keep fryin that fucker.

To to tell you the truth, Supes, I'm kinda' over him and his entire act.

Somewhere along the line, Prince became more interested in being Prince the persona than he did Prince the musician. Shit like American Idol and the dancing twins don't help. Notice how traffic on this board, including me, dropped dramatically after the PFU movement? I think most people just finally got sick and tired of butting heads with an artist who seems to spend an inordinate amount of time and energy trying to erect barriers between himself and the fans who made him famous and rich in the first place.

It just gets to be too goddamned much work trying adhere to his quirks, strange rules, empty promises and mediocre records. "PFUNK" was the best song I've heard from him in years and look what it took to get it. Think of all the BS we've been asked/required to adapt to: last minute cancellations, the Crystal Ball and NPGMC "lifetime" membership bullshit, encryption and licensing on songs that we can't burn to CD, YouTube, Controversy Magazine, "mail us your bootlegs", lawsuits, being required to find God, know "the truth" and become a "Rainbow Child" just to fit in, censorship on his message board....and on and on.

Fuck it.

Unlike Prince, I am not an eccentric millionaire who can spend all of his time, money and energy attempting to control the world around him to suit his ever-changing and idosyncratic whims, wives and mood shifts. I helped him become that person he wanted to be, but no more. It's his life and he can do what he wants, but I'm-a take a page out his book and do what I want - and that means no more club memberships, paying for downloads or even buying his CD's. He turns trying to support him into a fucking JOB...

I'm tired of it and the rewards just don't measure up to the work, so I quit.

It's a shame, really.
