Bette Davis Eyes I heard this song last week and it sure had a 1999 feel to it. I looked at the year the song was released and it was in 1980 and it spent 9 weeks at #1 in 1981. I really think this song influenced Prince vision to get himself more fans and propel him in to mainstream.
Listen to the track and please let me know what you think. I became a fan of Prince in with 1999. I purchased his 4 previous Albums(at the time) and loved them all. After he became Popular, then everyone liked him at least for a while. Did Kim Carnes give the the inspiration for 1999? Please enlighten me if I am off base. "What's the hurry 2 die without tryin?

aaaaah yes,...I have mentioned this several times myself over in the Non Music forum. Sure, P was definately influenced by this track during his 1999 album. Along with this song, Gary Numan's song "Cars" is another that P had his ear to. But yeah, Bette Davis Eyes, sure. The instrumentation, the claps, etc. Good song. I've always liked that song, and Bette Davis  Maybe the same director did a vid for Prince but it does not remind me of Him.

I've loved the song for years, but have never noticed the conection. I will need to have another listen. With regards to Gary Numan, I totally agree! Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy! | |

Funny that! I saw an advert on telly the other day that has this song on it and I thought to myself, 'I wonder if prince wrote that?'. It sure sounds like his stuff and slightly like the Bangles too. I love that song as well....a classic for sure.
