In my case, I've always been the type who finds something else to do when Prince is having one of his episodes, so maybe I don't have the same level of fan fatigue as the people who have hung in there for better or worse. Does that make sense?

As a result I missed a few things but looking back over the past 26 years, the only thing I truly regret missing was the celebrations.

This time around I tried to hang tough hoping not to miss anything else...the problem is I'm not very patient so it looks like another break is in order for me. Prince remains my favorite solo artist, but luckily I'm primarily a music lover, so I have lots of other options, (not implying that you dont). I've already seen some great shows so far this year, my favorite band is touring very soon and hopefully, I'll get to see George Michael this summer for the first time, ( very excited about that!)

I ain't mad at him though, I just think that entertainment shouldn't be unnecessarily complicated. During the 777 weekend I remember telling my friend that when the whole Prince trip starts to become more effort than fun I'll take a breather. That time has come. When and if he wants to offer something that is artistically interesting again I'll be glad to check it out.

I think that we sometimes don't appreciate Prince's continual output and turn into spoilt brat kids that have an ubundance of toys, but always stamp their foot for something more.

Sometimes we are too quick to de-value or disregard what's new too quickly, because we know that we've only got to wait another 10/12 months for the next thing!

Not many other artist spoil their fans with so much material.

I'm happy to accept the scraps - especially when it is true that one mans junk is another mans treasure!

I have listened to PFunk maybe 1 or 2 since he released it.


Since the PFU initiative started the amount time I spend listening to Prince music has dropped drastically. I used to listen to it at work pretty much all day, but when PFU started, I stopped listening to any Prince music (incl. associates) for a month (self-imposed boycott). And I survived! Now when I'm at work, I look at the Prince albums on my computer and I'm like . A lot of them have lost their appeal.


I still listen to his music (although not nearly as much), follow the developments, and hope he will play a concert in NYC or somewhere relatively easy for me to travel to, but I am not forgetting his quixotic crusade to erase images he doesn't own the copyright to from the web, or cease & desist everything he can. He still needs to explain--or better yet--stop that isht.


I feel like I spend less time on the Org (and this forum especially) because it's full of all sorts of juvenile fluff--whether that has anything to do with the some of the 'older' regulars being fed up with Prince and 'leaving' or not, I'm not sure. I think it may.


I'm not quite at the point of Herb4, but I certainly empathize with him. Being a Prince fan (in the way Prince seems to wants one to--as Herb pointed out) would be a lot of work and that seems a little messed up to me that the object of fandom should dictate how they want to be admired by their fans. (Which of course opens up the whole 'fams/fans/I don't want to be idolized/objectified' can of worms...)


And I don't "stick up" for Prince when friends/accquaintences ask me if it's really true he's "suing dancing babies" or whatever. I'm like, "Yeah, the dude is crazy. Not like MJ crazy, but crazy in the way people who never have anyone tell them 'No' and have lived in their own self-created crazy purple world since the age of 18 are." I explain (as best I can) why Prince thinks it's a good idea to pay Websheriff to threaten fans, fams, and anyone who basically breathes more than two bars of his music or share images of him (to which he doesn't own copyrights) and they just don't get it--because it doesn't make sense!! And that's what I tell them!
