Vocally...When do u think Prince was at his Peak? In terms of his singing ability what Era do u think Prince was at his Best Vocally? Not Creatively...but Vocally?
I would go with '92-'95. He was hitting some crazy notes during that period between D&P, 0(+>, Come, & Gold Experience albums. I think he finally found that "connected" voice that singers look for. That perfect blend between Mid - Falsetto range.

Actually, I think he keeps getting better and better.
I was really surprised by the "Musicology" album when it came out, that it had such amazing vocals. Having said that, I also have to admit that "Planet Earth" was a little disappointing, vocally... So maybe his peak was around 2004?

'God' vocal version is an incredible display of Prince's vocal range.
I don't think he's ever equalled it before or since.

Live, I think around 88 (Lovesexy) to 90 (Nude) his voice was really strong. His falsetto was very relaxed and unforced sounding; and the power he was delivering on stuff like Question Of U and If I Had A Harem was amazing. "Sheeeeeeeeit"

It's been strong all along...check out For You (the song) or Baby from the first CD, then check out something like Somewhere Here On Earth, from his last album.
The man is gifted vocally. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Where he's peaking is a really hard thing to point out. I didn't grow up with him like the majority here has. I've been going through the albums in order just to see what I can see. SoTT has all kinds of great vocals where his voice does things it hasn't gotten to before. Then in the early 90's, which I will be invesigating today, there's plenty of great examples in and TGE. If I'm playing favorites, though, I'd say I love his vocals in the "commerical" 80's era with 1999 & Purple Rain because that's how I first knew his voice. I enjoy the likes of Little Red Corvette and 1999. But his falsetto seems to keep improving through the years. I'd prefer it if he didn't use it all the time, which is why I have little interest in the 70's. "Do me Baby" is arguably one of his best vocal performances EVER. And it's been followed by the likes of International Lover, The Beautiful Ones, Condition of the Heart, Adore, When 2 r in Love, Insatiable... the list goes ON and ON. And it all started from that one song. I think that "Adore" is the one that truly surpassed it, but "The Beautiful Ones" is no slouch either. If you're not quite familiar with it, it can drive a girl to tears Playing favorites, I don't really have an era I don't like his voice in... though ATWIAD has some points where im not too crazy about it. And his vocals at present are ... they have a certain sophistication that truly shows his experience had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I actually think he was there during "forever" on the very first album.
there is something about the innocence and sincerity and depth of his voice and tone that captured me.

Pitch-wise, the peak was probably Scandalous, at the 2 minute, 31 second mark. [Edited 4/3/08 9:41am]
