Prince influence on UK charts

I was listening to the UK charts are was amazed at how many songs had a Prince feel about them. The songs that I am thinking of are ...what do you think

Justin Timberlake
Samantha Mumba
Holly Valance

I haven't heard these songs but a couple of months ago there was that remix of I Would Die 4 U and Alicia's cover of HCUDCMA. Does anybody know if Keys' version charted in the UK 'cos I didn't see it.

Me too, Holly Valance's first song was a rip off of a song that was released in Turkey and sounds nothing like Prince. Samantha Mumba is a blatent waste of space and I think Justin Timberlake is trying to sound and dance like Michael Jackson.

I think artists sounding more like Prince are Basement Jax and Britney Spears to be fair

Essence

Not the best examples, although of course Prince is influential and his vibe will always remain.

Better time for this was when Alicia Keys "HCUDCMA" and "I Would Die 4 U" cover were both out same week. hehehe

I agree with Ladymisskat.Basement Jaxx's 'Get Me Off' and Britney's 'Boys' (Neptunes produced) are both heavily Prince-influenced.

Cee-Lo Green's (from Goodie Mob) album is one of the best I've heard in ages and that's got loads of Princey influences (he acknowledges him in the credits).

Basement Jaxx are pure shite, for god sakes the song that is constantly played during TV show zoom-outs 'Wheres Your Head At' is just a total RIP (not sample sorry) of Gary Numan's song 'M.E'...
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

I remember reading somewhere that Alicia Keys was firmly on course for a no.2 placing in the charts, maybe an outside shot for no.1, with HCUDCMA (sales, airplay and whatever), but the single was disqualified from the charts because it was a few minutes too long in length to count as an official single release! Someone f*@*$@ up.

Alicia Keys HCUDCMA made top20 I think but no better. The Space Cowboys IWD4U should have been top10 but was disqualified from the chart because the CD contained too many tracks.

I think the new Craig David displays influences (good or bad - make up your own mind!).

Does anyone know if Basement Jaxx are going to release their version of Erotic City?

How could I confuse those two songs! That's right - IWD4U was the one that got disqualified...

Popstars Extra ITV 2 Saturday Night interview with Justin Timberlake and he said " Micheal Jackson, Janet Jackson and Prince where the people he watched on MTV when he was younger learning How 2 dance and sing".

I read a Interview by Holly Valance in a Heat magazine issue and she said Prince was 1 of her idols as a child, she also said some of the songs are similar 2 his on the album. I have the album and I don't think they do.
