Prince must be really proud of 3121

Has anyone noticed that prince always includes songs from 3121, and has alot of faith in them

Take Black Sweat:

i like the song (in fact its one of my favs, especially with the xtended bass intro live), but if u were prince, and you playing in a 20,000 arena (the o2), would you risk playing Black Sweat?? No. It charted at No.43 in the UK, and isnt exactly populer with fans. Same goes for Lolita. Normally a song like this wouldnt even be performed once, let alone a year and a half after the album release!

3121 : Still being performed (brilliant bass work though)
Lolita : Still being performed
Te Amo Corazon : Not Being performed
Black Sweat : Still being performed
Incense And Candles : Never Been Performed
Fury : Was performed untill Nov 2006
Beautifull Loved and Blessed : Was performed, but then sadly dropped
Love : Never Been Performed
Satisfied : Still being performed
The Word : Performed twice in 2007
The Dance : Still being performed (Renato solo)
Get On The Boat : Still being performed

So out of 12 songs, 2 have never been performed, and 6 are still being performed in his set.

What other album has had this many songs regualy performed??

Planet earth: (He regually performs: Planet earth, guitar, shoe, T1UWC, Chelsea Rodgers = 5 songs)
Musicology : (Musicology = 1 song)

and so on...

Not Popular with fans???

I love black sweat!!! nearly my fave on the album!!!

And I Love 3121. His best album since Gold.

I think the indication that well after it's release, he was still using 3121 as a title to his site, and charging 31.21 for tickets.

Subliminal advertising for a passed album! not like Prince.

The chart position is purley due to it only being released as download in this country.

Have you heard Ice Cubes remix of Black sweat???

Yeah. It isn't bad. It isn't "his" remix though, it's just a mashup that DJ Rashida (I believe) did.

syble

i love black sweat too

I also love incense and candles but he needs a sweet soulful female voice for that so maybe thats why hes not performed it seein as Tamar doesnt seem to around him now. I think he taught her how to fly and then told her her to jump the nest.

Janet Jackson would fill in nicely but i cant see that ever happening. Shes too rude these days and after all Prince did say 'you cant be too flirty .. i know how to undress me' and her JT thingy was a bit wierd even for a Jackson.

I would say though that that's the thing about Prince. He can take any song and literally make it come alive live... One of his many gifts!

Like Purple Rain, a great song I agree, but hardly one I would put on the stereo and listen too. Have just heard it too many times. But seeing him performing it live is like 'yes, I wish I could hear that one more time'...

Oh ok. I'm was sure that In Ice cubes rap there are specific references to the song making me think that it was his remix of it. I will have to give it a few more listens.

The re-work of the Dance is absoltely amazing. The dramatic piano piece towards the end is some of Prince's finest!!!

How interesting! I got my cd single releases for this album on a trip to Rome as I never saw anything around London, except what only seemed like imports!!!

Definitely wasn't aware of a picture disc. That's caused a gap in the collection!!! confused wink smile

OK! Just had a check on Housequakes Discography of Prince singles, and it seems that what I've done is purchased U.K. imports while in Italy!!!! Duh!!!! confused

Yep and calling the perfume that too - it looks like he's using that as an overall brand for a bunch of merchandise. I'm not suprised, he does have a track record of sticking with ideas he likes for years! And I love the album, like most others I think it's the strongest of the recent releases. I love every track except Incense & Candles and that's just personal taste, I'm not keen on the R&B sound. As soon as the weird sounding intro and bass to 3121 comes on I just immediately feel upbeat and like i wanna go and find the nearest party!
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

I listened to a few Prince cd's yesterday...and 3121, was one of them..I love it more everytime I put it on...I think I've always felt that way about most of Prince's cd's.

And.."Incense and Candles" is really nice...and I love how it...kind of has a rap essence to it...but Prince talking sounds like singing anyway...He's just got that goin' on.

it's hard 2 say that he's still per4ming these songs live since he hasn't done a true live concert since Sept of 2007. and he dropped lolita during the O2 arena shows.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I think Prince himself knows that 3121 was a return to form, and it would have been a SMASH HIT had it been released in the early-90's...
