What covers of Prince Records does Prince Approve of?

Saw an interview with Prince and he's trying to be kind, but we all know Prince does not like Tom Jones cover of his Kiss ...

But which covers of his records does he like? and which ones does he not like?

Orgers you comments and help please?

I disagree. Prince does like Tom Jones covering "Kiss" it made all of my Granny's friends like Prince when then only loved Tom Jones in the first place.

He'd probably like any cover of a TRC song, since it'd fit with his JW mentality of spreading the message. Not that anyone will bother ever covering those songs, but that's a separate issue.

Good question. I was wondering how much say he got in the Controversy album of covers, whether he got to approve them or not. There are a few shockers on there and I was wondering if he had approved or not! Personally I love Alica Keys doing How Come You Don't Call Me, the funked up remix.
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

One cover Prince made a negative comment about was "Darlin' Nikki" by The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Something about how artists need to write their own material instead of taking others or something along those lines....Prince and his spur of the moment hissy fits. shrug I don't think he liked "When Doves Cry" by Genuwine or "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O' Connor either.

He loved TLC's version of "If I Was Ur Girlfriend" (he introduced them on the 1999 VMAs as his favorite group), "I Feel For U" by Chaka Khan, and "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?" by Alicia Keys. Don't know how he felt about Mariah Carey's cover of "The Beautiful Ones".

I hope he likes Mel'isa Morgan's version of "Do Me, Baby"...it's soo good.

I wonder if he's heard Jordan Knight's version of "I Could Never Take the Place of Ur Man"? hmmm

Who's to say what he really likes except for him and he says he doesn't listen to the radio....*cough* *cough* Bullshit *cough* *cough*

That's odd considering the genius of the song was that a man was singing it.

i was under the impression that he doesn't like anyone covering his songs. and he added , " do you think i wanted tom jones to cover kiss" i think the conversation started with a mentiong of chaka khan and someone covering one of her songs.
