Your First Impression

What were your thoughts when you heard a Prince song or saw him for the first time?

Now, I remember hearing him for the first time when I was like 9 and it was 1992...so my mom was playing the prince album...only "7", " And God Created Woman" and "Sexy MF" songs though. I thought the music was the most fascinating stuff I had ever heard and when I saw him for the first time, I cant remember ever thinking a man being so pretty in my life. I knew he was cute but didnt focus on it too much. Instantly I began looking for more Prince music in our house, well, the stuff my mother would let me listen to because she would play "Sexy MF" when she thought I was sleep in my bed and she was in the livingroom entertaining guest. lol I did think he was really weird even though I loved the music. smile

I thought he was a more perverted Michael Jackson. It was only when I downloaded so many other songs of his that I realized how eclectic an artist he is.

the first time I saw him ever was seeing the 1999 video... and it was so long ago that I can scarcely put those thoughts into words cuz I forget a lot of my thoughts.

I'd say my first time SEEING him... was when we stumbled across PR while flipping through the channels... very random rolleyes the movie was already half over, but watched it anyway cuz my dad said it was good.

My first impression was that Prince was a hard-working, extremely dedicated musician that lives for the music he writes mushy something about that determination has got to be admired.
After seeing the last 2 performances, I knew he was an impressive performer nod

Thanks to what I saw in the movie and a couple things I had heard/read about him, I thought he was very eccentric, private, and was quite arrogant, very serious.

I didn't know he had a "lighter" side to him until I started listening to the music. And also the many interviews I'd find afterwards. I know that he takes his music very seriously and to this day, I still believe he's eccentric, serious, hard-working and I still believe he's a bit arrogant, but I never minded that so much.
The word "Arrogant" is so negative that I think of it as him having a lot of confidence in himself cool
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I thought he was pretty damn "cool" when I was really little in the 90's. lol
My first impression that I can specifically remember and was old enough to care was the Grammies in 04 and I thought he was amazing. I was always kinda impressed by him.

Curiosity and slightly mesmorised at the When Doves Cry video, then fascination and amazement when I bought Purple Rain/God 12" - staring at the cover wondering who this guy was, was hooked forever! Thought he was incredibly sexy and cool in PR the movie, loved the whole concept, I think it kind of mirrored my life (well the club scene) at the time.

So cool cool cool all the way biggrin

Yes I asked my mother this question just now and she said, she heard "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and thought it was a new group out called Prince and the song was kinda funky then she said when she saw him on tv, she thought he was terribly cute but "embarassingly corny" lol

Wow, he's soo little and he's prettier than all the women in the audience, but he has a Barry White speaking voice and his music is awesome. He was kinda weird but in a good way...hmmm unique that's the word.
