Condensed story time!! 
Some of it comes from my dad, he is by no means a fan but he knows ALOT about black music. I mean, he's one of those people who can trace music from African chants to blues to rock and roll to rap or whatever. He loves black music, always talking about it. So I always knew who P was, but wasn't necessarily a fan. Okay...so April/May of last year I started..."getting" music off the internet... 
And, prepare yourself because this is BEYOND lame. I saw the guitar commercial. And I think "Why don't I have any of his music?" It was all over from there. | |

My story -
I was 12 and I was watching MTV one day, and I think they were doing pop-up videos, and what happens to come on but the Gett Off video. I was somehow immediately hooked. My mom is also a fan of his 80s stuff so she had 1999 and ATWIAD. I managed to get Purple Rain from a teacher at school... anyway the rest is history. I think the best thing about my random discovery was that it helped me realize I didn't have to be like everyone else. When I was in 6-7th grade everyone liked Britney Spears, NSYNC, etc. When I 'found' Prince I was kinda like "OH, there's something I ACTUALLY enjoy, not just because it's popular." Yep, that's about it. Sorry it's so long, lol | |

I had no music to listen to one day, so I took my Mom's Musicology CD that she only listened to once and claimed it as my own. Then I saw PR on VH1 and became a fan. | |
