Ok, here's my serious take on this. I think Prince does hate his fans, but not all the time. Bear with me, but it reminds me of how I imagine Prince's relationship with his wig. You have good days and bad days, you get frustrated sometimes, and other times things just seem to fit perfectly and it's so natural. Sometimes Prince really appreciates us and is grateful for us. As with his wig, sometimes he's so glad we're here for him. Other times he feels a burden and just wishes he could be himself, stripped of all the expectations. He wants to be loved by his fans but it frustrates him that as individuals we just sometimes don't all follow where he wants to take us. First he leans on us with spiritual matters, like teasing his wig into place, but when it doesn't work he tries harder, more aggressively pushing his points about fans, fams, the rainbow children, banished ones etc., and before he knows it he's thumbing through a catalogue having to pick out a new wig 'cause the other one is trashed. What he chooses is something less authentic, but easier to manage, and what you have in this analogy is the new fan, the fam to be, the Musicology and after, loving, adoring, prince fan. However, these fans will also grow up to disappoint him, just as his new wig will get tired and worn from all the hair spray, sweat and ejaculate. In the end, Prince will never be truly happy and comfortable with his fans or his wig because neither will ever be everything he wants them to be.

lol i dont think his shortness has anything to do with with him being afraid. hes alot taller than he looks. and that question above your sentence is very true. you cant perfect the thoughts of people making them how you want them to think of you. each and everyone is their own. when youre in a high position like he is of course you need to have control by your side. he is not afraid of anything but he knows himself and only himself. whether your fame goes up or down just imagine a world full of people thinking that you are not cool or not as cool as you used to be. peoples opinion becomes general and they think that youre not cool when you really are cool. even though that coolness may not be so visible today that coolness does exist because people like people on this board are witnesses to that. he may not be afraid but he knows exactly what to avoid. shame. false shame that is. it is when people think of you as unworthy or worthless, dont give you respect and treat you like a lowlife like you aint as equal or special as them. and it becomes a general thing then people treat you in an incorrect way and prince tries to avoid that because he knows it is not true. imagine the world not treating or talking to you right because it is a false misjudgment. there is good fear and there is bad. of course a man of his position would want to avoid that. the world will treat you what they will. they can see prince but they cant see prince. just imagine prince himself knowing that hes the best musician in the world and plays any instrument and that he is a very powerfully athorative and unique individual with shapes patterns and colors and genuinity no one has and people treat him like sh// because they dont understand his language of music. ever heard of murders when a girlfriend dies and the public blames it all the boyfriend and he knows in his heart that he didnt do anything? then the court judges him as not guilty but the world suspects or still thinks that he did it and recognizes his face everywhere and still thinks the same thing even after ten years? thats shame and that kind of shame is not even true for the kid. you live with that even though you dont deserve it. youre like 'why God why?'. you cannot control peoples minds but you can try to change it and to control a whole population of prince fans or people who just like him is hard. to have public respect is very very important even though everyone in the world has done bad things, when youre on tv internet or anything its difficult to get respect or love back when you screw up, have an opinion, turn people off, disgust them, make 'wrong' music, wear clothes/make up they wouldnt wear and sometimes being yourself. not only does prince neccesarily need to control the fans and people who just like him and people who dont like/ hate him but respect him, but also the media sometimes because they have power and impact. but of course prince will do what he wills. hes not a slave/people pleaser. he has two choices: instinctivly obey himself and do what is neccessary. the two directions will either take him left or right. sometimes north and south. his whole career was always like that and still is. prince is powerful and with that comes great control. and mind changing sometimes. even though he really doesnt care what the f/// people think. try making a baby eat its food times 100,000,000. thats hard lol

Why is it that I genuinely believe Prince doesnt hate his fans? Have I sipped a bit too much of the koolaid?? I mean, hate is such a strong word, I cant comprehend that he would associate that with people who have supported him over the years in many different ways. I think he is often bothered by how to please his fans because he has spoiled us with the overflow of music and quirky concerts/aftershows. I think sometimes he ignores us because he just wants to do what he wants. But arent we all guilty of that? He is after all, human. Although an extraordinarily talented and handsome one, he is human. I dont think Prince hates his fans, I believe he gets frustrated, just like we do with him from time to time.
