Prince's Live Version Of 'Villanova Junction'. Can anyone who has ever heard Prince cover this song at his various concerts tell me how well his guitar playing performance is? I have never heard him play it but the Hendrix version is one of my favorite guitar pieces ever.
How would you compare his and the Hendrix version of this song? Is there any kind of difference in Prince's guitar playing than in Jimi's? Like does he keep the whole Spanish/Moroccan type sound in his playing or does he take it in a more different direction? [Edited 3/25/08 23:56pm]

I have this song on a cd called Chicken Grease which is a collection of Prince covering songs in concert. I really liked his version of "Villanova Junction" as well as the original by Hendrix.
I haven't listened to it in a while but the arrangement and vibe of it is very similar. The Spanish flavor is definitely still there. The version I have features an organ solo and not just guitar, but it works. Both versions are terrific. [Edited 3/26/08 2:31am]

Prince in Rehearsal (name of the boot) from 1992 has a nice version from Rotterdam. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Prince did a good job on it. His Phrasing is different than Hendrix...but he sounded awesome! I love both versions..
