Prince on instruments

In concert, I've seen P play guitar (electric and acoustic), bass, keyboards/piano and drums. As he is reputed to play at least 27 instruments has anybody seen him play another instrument live other than those I've mentioned and how was he on them?

I think its like, if I wanted to brag.

I could say ,since I play Saxophone, that I play 7 instruments.

Contrabass,Bass, Baritone,Tenor, Alto, Soprano and Sopranino.

That doesn't make it true, but it sounds good biggrin

I would imagine P said the same thing.

Besides everyone plays at least 2 instruments! Who can't play a cow bell or finger cymbals.
Hey maybe P counted those two lol

Or maybe someone else made up that 27 number.

It was good PR. Prince was being marketed as a musical genius, a wunderkind who could play dozens of instruments. I wouldn't be surprised if the marketer behind that didn't count different types of keyboards (say, piano, organ, synth and clavinet) as singular instruments. Congas vs. bongos. Drums vs. drum machines, and so on.

Still, he played that basic four (drums, bass, keys and guitar) very, very well.

Yeah, kind of like when a marketer came up with the notion that Mariah Carey could sing in 7 octaves. Publicists come up with things that they hope writers will just put in magazine articles and newspapers.

Yea, that sounds about right!
tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame
Love is a losing game

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays the violin or even the flute. The ones we see him play and the ones he might make time to practice "at home" could be different.
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes
