Anyone remember that Channel 4 Prince night?? What was the concert they showed...? I recall it being some aftershow gig or something in a tiny venue...
Does anyone know what show that was and what songs they aired?

The VHS release is as follows:
Beautiful Strange (video clip) / Push It Up / JOTY / Talk'in Loud & Sayin' Nothin' / Blues Intro / Sweet Thing / Baby I Love U / Don't Talk 2 Strangers / Free / Party Time / Come On / Mad / Come On (Video Clip) I don't recall if the C4 version was exactly the same, or slightly different.

Sweet Thing / Baby I Love U / Don't Talk 2 Strangers were duets with Chaka, with prince playing guitar Party Time - was basically doug e fresh rapping

"Party Time" is the wrong title. It's actually "La Di Da Di" by Doug E Fresh.
"The show" by Doug E Fresh is also performed between "Come On" and "Mad".

So it was officially released on VHS was it? it was available on vhs online from whatever his website was called at the time. i got my copy from paisley park. was pretty cool to go to paisley park and buy a video that you can see yourself in the show started the same as the standard 98 setlist and then ended up more like an aftershow with chaka and larry guesting and prince playing with them. chaka did a song with prince that they had only just rehearsed that afternoon (whilst we were standing outside talking to larry, jerry and cynthia), in no order she did don't talk to strangers, sweet thing, never be another fool, and baby i love you (the aretha franklin classic). the last couple of tracks were shown in a different order on the show to the actual running order. he played for just under 2 hours. i remember the manager saying he could have played for as long as he wanted as he was so excited to get prince there. the whole upper floor was full of various celebs. there were only 250 tickets available to fans who called a number to place an order and one of the main guys at the record company took the orders all personally at 8am. they did a mail out to people who responded to the cards that they sent out in the cd singles for the emancipation album. we got really cool looking numbered tickets and i got mine signed by most people but they took them off us at the door, even though we asked to keep them and put our addresses on the back so they could be returned. fortunately i scanned both sides before the show

Chakas performance of Dont Talk To Strangers on this was brilliant. That point where she hits a high note and prince carries it on with his guitar solo is magic for me. Why does he always realise the definitve versions of his songs on stage? I guess its testament to his insane genius in some way - but i remember when i discovered his live version of Love Thy Will Be Done from 95.....I must have searched for 6 months to find a ghigh quality or studio version as good as the boot i had but nothing came close. I still come back to that poor quality recording i have from his birthday show.
