94 east was recorded by Pepe Willie and different musicians, among them prince and Andre Cymone i the mid 70's. This was before Prince had got record contract of his own. It's not a prince album but he definitley plays on it. I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

No,these are not Prince songs. These are mid-70s recordings by Pepe Wille and his band 94 East.He hired a young Prince and Andre Cymone to play on these sessions. Many songs were recorded for a planned debut album on Polydor Records. The deal fell through but Pepe held on to these recordings and released them in 1985 as "94 East: The Historic 1977 Recordings".Since then,he has released this album countless times, always with Prince's name and photo splashed across the cover (in order to make people think it's a "Prince" project).Don't be fooled.
But,if you just gotta have this project,I suggest you get the 2-CD 'Symbolic Begiinings' set, which contains even more songs than the 6-track CD you just bought.

I have this 2cd album and it is not bad.
This song 'if you see me' was put on the jewel box as a prince song (was it 'do yourself a favour'?). Great song .

The song "JUST ANOTHER SUCKER" is credited 2 Prince having the "Controversy Music (ASCAP)". So he probably wrote lyrics or at least co-written the song. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Yeah,"If You See Me" is an early version of the song "Do Yourself A Favor",which Prince recorded himself in 1982 for possible use on a Time album. The song was written by Pepe Willie and recorded in late 1975.Jesse Johnson recorded his own great version in 1986.

The moderators need to create a special forum just for this album.

you have to admit though, it's been a while since we've seen this thread...at least a few weeks! That's correct. And there are ONLY two threads currently devoted to this particular subject as I type this, lol! . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."
