How many albums would you say Prince has, for example, I see the Madhouse albums as Prince but would you put the Vanity / Appolonia / Sheila E albums as his or co-collaborations? Cheers

Either Prince Instrumentals or Prince on lead vocals would constitute a Prince album in my eyes...

The other records would have his contribution...however, vocals usually...determine the project. It may not be the singer's writing...however...the singer determines the general emotion the song delivers.

I tried to write a paper about 7 years ago, that included this angle slightly...however it was about the psychological differences between male and female singers...Using the song..."Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds..." as an example.

What I am trying to say...is...whom is providing the emotion? The singer? The writer? or the lyric's? and I suppose that is when you would get technical about the contributions to the song.

Tony Orlando didn't write, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon, around the Old Oak Tree." But Tony made the song historical...Thanks to the foundation of the writer.
