94 East was a band that Prince helped out in the studio in the late 1970s, even before his first album came out. It's kind of the only real "session work" he ever really did (before becoming famous that is).

The guy who owns these recordings, Pepe Willie, pretty much rehashes them every couple of years under a new album, with new packaging, new production etc:

Minneapolis Genius
One Man Jam
Symbolic Beginnings
Just Another Sucker
94 East Featuring 10:15 & Fortune Teller Remix

... just some examples. But most of them are pretty much the same. (From memory, I think One Man Jam is the most complete).

Musically they're pretty uninteresting - some watered down pop/funk tunes more or less. They're interesting to listen to from a historical point of view, but don't expect hear too much Prince. A lot of the time it's actually quite unclear as to what he did on each track.

So, if you've got all the standard Prince and associated artist albums already, then by all means check these out. Just don't be expecting anything too purple.

It's only worth getting it for 'Just another Sucker'! The rest is forgettable.

I got mine for £3 which is the price of a cd single so can't complain.
