Prince's Lowest Note?

What is the note and (more importantly) which song does he hit it in?

Highest is definitely in God. It sounds like an E6, which means he can sing in whistle tone. smile

Because I don't know a lot of his back catalogue, it's hard for me to work it out. The verses in Diamonds and Pearls could possibly be some of the lowest.

Don't know the exact note, but the first thing that came to my mind was the end of "Solo," when he sings "My name is...no one..."

He also hits a drastically high note in that song too, for the line "so HIGH, the stars are under me."

"Erotic City" is also sung in a low register; although I think it was slightly slowed down for that effect.

A good argument could be for Daddy Pop -- he hits a very low note and high note in the lyrics.

But on just pure reference of one song -- the highest could be With You or For You back in the 1970s, Scandalous from 1989, most likely Solo from 1993, Fascination from 1997, or even Somewhere Here on Earth from 2007.

Bob George doesn't count for a low note, since that's modified by a vo-coder thing, or even of his distorted "Bob Georgish" voices on the entire Rainbow Children and Avalanche.

I'm speaking about his lowest note, not song in general.

And if you think SHOE is high, you really need to hear that note in 'God'. It's amazing!

Still would stand all time is indeed very low and on the lovesexy tour he sings somewhere the "go go go" part (during Let's go crazy, go freakin' crazy), where the crowd has to copy him, I haven't heard him go lower than that, it was cool.

With his voice that is wink

Lowest? I'd say "Solo" and maybe his highest as well.

I don't know if this is the lowest he can go, but my roommate and I agree that his voice has never sounded better than those three words.

I just clicked on this forum mistakenly...I was sort of surprised that these were the questions being pondered here eek. Just out of curiosity, is this something you're attempting to do with your own voice, or.... ?

This has been discussed before. There's a couple of songs where Prince sings a low E, for example "Daddy Pop" and "Letitgo" (there are more as well, I just can't think of them right now).

In "Damn U", he briefly reaches an E flat ("when you tell me...") although it's not really sustained.

Also, in "Erotic City", he gets down to an E flat - but as someone already mentioned, those vocals are sung in a different key, and then slowed down.
