Your opinion of Prince over time

I can honestly say that back in 1981 I never dreamed that Prince would turn out to be the musical great that he is-back then Prince was called everything but a child of God. I was a fan instantly upon hearing that voice-I'm happy to have taken this musical journey with him. I hope that when he reaches that half a century mark this year that he won't have any regrets. Anyway, sometimes on this site we get lost in the gossip and such and we never really tell the man thank you wink So, just a quick thanks to Prince( if he should ever read this) for giving the world such beautiful music cool Okay I got that out lol

What is your opinion of Prince as he has matured? eek

I think my opinion of Prince has changed over time.

When I was younger, I was flat out scared of him. I had seen GB and PR and thought that he was this vulgar, mean spirited man. And yet I liked him because he was attractive and damn talented. Just kind of a pretty bad boy. And Prince is still kind of that way, but he himself has matured and isn't quite as vulgar anymore. He's grown up and evolved more in his music and his sound. And it's still thrilling. To me anyway. I'm excited to hear a new bit of news about him or see a new picture or hear a new song. It's all cool. Prince is so unlike any of the other musicians I listen to and the longer I'm into him, the more I like him and endearing he is to me. Prince isn't just a persona anymore. He's a person to me, and I think I get the guy.

And I just really respect him. At the end of te day, I really do respect and look up to Prince. He is a really creative individual, and in our world today, just how many people take pains to stand out from the crowd?
I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me.
Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots.
Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

Anxiety

when i first became a fan, he was like a superhero and an enigma at the same time. he seemed to live in his own multicolored reality and i wanted to be part of that world because it was so much more imaginative and fascinating than the world i was stuck in as a teenager. i loved that his music was experimental yet pop, and that he played heavy electric guitar but at the same time it was danceable music. at the time, i loved that he spoke in riddles and wore crazy outfits. it all seemed to come together and work perfectly, and i thought he was completely larger than life.

now, i think of him as a crazy uncle who kinda irritates me now and then, but he's still okay and whenever he comes around (concert, album, whatever), i still enjoy checking him out. the dew has fallen from the vine quite a bit in terms of the fascination i have with his persona and his style - part of it is that he has grown out of that larger than life persona, and part of it is that perhaps i've grown out of the need to be fascinated by a man in makeup and booty pants.

Dayclear

He's matured, I never thought I'd see it because he was the wildest thing I'd ever seen back in the day, but I love him still. Thank you Darlin' heart

I love Prince. And I thank him in my heart for being on the planet with me...I think the world would have been missing something without him.

In all these years, despite all the twists and turns and changes his art, creativity, career and personality have gone through, my love, respect and admiration haven't budged.

Maybe one possible reason for their consistency is precisely because of them...

I thought he was weird and gayer than Michael Jackson. eek

Now, he's just one of the coolest cats ever! He's so slick & I am in awe of his presence and sexiness.

I fell in love with his music and his booty! in 1984. I am still in love with his music and booty! even though he has become more conservative this days.

Without Prince, the world would be like missing a piece of it's puzzle (so to speak). Music wouldn't sound the same without Prince. cool

Imago

At first I thought he was odd but interesting enough. shrug

Then Purple Rain was released and I thought he was a god. Musically amazing, lyrically daring, and always controversial. I followed his every career move (As best I could sans the Internet lol ) and really thought that he was Infallible.
He was just amazing. And mysterious to boot.

Now the mysterious act is played out. The music is meh. So now I think he's odd but interesting enough. shrug
