Me too... the first time I heard Purple Rain live, at the O2 in London, I had tears in my eyes. I felt as if I was witnessing something historical somehow - perhpas I was influenced by a Moscow music store sales assistant who pointed to the PR album and said to me "this one is 'istoristicheski' [historical]."
I've had 'internal tears' before, listening to some of his other songs, but real ones like that coming forth on the spot, it was a first. My problem now is that I feel I can't listen to PR anymore unless it's live. I want that one time at the O2 to be 'the last time' I heard it [until the next concert...], so each time I come to it on my playlist, I skip it. It's a problem
