This has been a topic on here a few times. My top pick will NEVER change. And that was his live performance in 85 at the American Music Awards. P simply turned it out. I was so happy that he chose to perform the song that he did. P had so much to prove and he let it all go during this song. He was screaming like a fucking lunatic. And his guitar solo was hella loud and passionate. Like it should be. One of the best performances EVER on t.v. P's and Michael's Billie Jean on Motown's special just a few years before put everybody else to shame. Those two performances caught two of the greatest entertainers in their prime. And I'm blessed to have seen them when it was originally aired. THAT is what u do whenever u perform at an award show or special. U want to totally floor your musical peers and blow them away. U want to make them motherfuckers wish they weren't even in the same business as u. That's what P and MJ did on those nights.

I did not know I blessed I was to have lived through that time period until a couple of days ago when I saw both looking through old videos.

Did he perform PR at that show? And was it the Grammy's where he did Baby I'm a Star? That was funny, he runs off through the audience at the end, and Chuck is running after him, looking a bit worried!

1) SNL 06..P blazed on "Fury". Sounded like Jimi and looked like Ike Turner. The heavy metal websites were praising P on how he killed it. "B.L.B" was nice and the groove at the end remined me of Sly.

2) "S.O.T.T" MTV 87...P, his guitar and a drum loop live. A whole new look and sound. The intro of P raising hell on his guitar is just incredible. Guess he had to let Whitesnake and G&R know he could get down too.

3) Arsenio Hall 91..Watching him dance his ass off on "Kiss" was priceless. Cool that he did the whole show and had Shelia and Little Richard in the audience.

Theres been a bunch but most recently the Leno jams were the business. Musicology and Everlasting Now. Come On was dope. The recent Chaka Khan tribute was off the chain. I dont think the TV really brought across how high the energy was on that. 3121 on the awards was tight(sounded green and orange). The bass on Beautiful, Loved etc. on SNL was ridiculous. Good Morning America was in the pocket. I hadnt realized how thick Tamar was . eek and he really put her front and center and zoned on guitar. Hes best when hes unrestricted w/ no time limit, which is a hard scenario to create even at Paisley. Anyway lemme think some mo

That song came out in '98 & Arsenio was cancelled in '94 or '95.

Naw! He DID play it! I remember that shit! Can anyone comfirm this?! It was the last song he played and it closed the show. Or can anyone confirm what the slow cut he sang if it WASN'T "The One"? Cuz I'm thinkin', maybe P had already recorded it but had never assigned it to an album, if that was the case.

Yes...he sang "The One" after Larry G and Chaka sang a snip of thier songs. The show was called VIBE. He opened the show with Let's Work.

Arsenio show #1: Let's go crazy, Kiss, Cream, Purple Rain, and Daddy Pop
Arsenio show #2: My Name is Prince, Blue Light, and The Max

The first Arsenio Hall show was off the chain but the second one was ai-ight.

For all the pub the concert was boring. The Arsenio show (the first one) was more exciting. I remember seeing someone yawning at the concert when the camera went by. He did rock If I was your girlfriend at the concert and Oprah.

I think the Emancipation concert and the rave concert was the worse I have seen from him....especilly since there was so much pub behind them...

Dammit! You're dead on it! Because I DO remember Chaka and Larry there. Then why in the fuck did I think it was Arsenio? Oh well. Thanks for the clarification.

WHAAAT!?!? lol - I loved the mini-concert! Mainly because he was "freeing" himself and I hadn't seen him in a while as well.
