Will Prince ever record happy party music again?

Ever since Prince became a serious "artist" he forgot how to have fun and write party songs. I DJ'd my brother's wedding this weekend and nothing got the party going more than "1999" "Let's Go Crazy" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover." Prince and MJ forgot why people loved them- not only did they write great music but they made great party jams that you could escape with. With "Invincible" and "TRC" times have changed, and what I would do for some new good FUN jams from both these guys. Their too damn serious and self-absorbed these days.

You have some valid points...I'd go as far to say...

That a Prince song started 'Detroit's Club music' (House Music or Mixes) Two songs come to mind right away when you think of original Club Music in Detroit...

The Perculator and Erotic City <---I'd argue is one of the most influential, sampled, mixed songs in Detroit Club history...

But that's just my opinion...

You know you're right. I miss hearing a Prince jam like those you mentioned. It would be nice if he would do something in the vein of Housequake, Erotic City, Kiss or DMSR (ha ha) just to show the world that he hasn't stopped making party songs. It would be incredible.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Damn Straight! I don't wanna hear anything but Fun Stuff and Fun Topics. 1999 was the Ultimate Party album for sure.I wanna go to a Concert and just have fun not think about any problems that's for sure. Maybe he should start selling Alcohol at his concerts. Cause if I gotta hear stuff about Judging and all well I'd rather be Drunk or Obliviated and then I won't care what he says. Suffice to say I'm disgusted with this Marriage and that he doesn't Fool around or act Wild! I just don't want him saying or judging me as Dirty if I like his Cursing songs or if I wanna wear crotchless panties or Garters to his show. I don't wanna hear it or feel Guilty cause he's talking about Religion and I'm thinking about Sex and Him and All and having Orgasms at his concerts. I don't wanna hear it. I just wanna have a Good Time for Goodness sake!

I agree with you,DMSR.I'm a clubgoer and I like to PARTY! In these scary and uncertain times,we need some kickass party music to take our minds off our troubles. On a recent Eminem thread,I said that I preferred Nelly's music because it's fun and he doesn't take himself so seriously. We need more music like that.

If you witnessed one of the ONA-Concerts (I´ve been in Oberhausen yesterday), you would know that some of the Songs on The Rainbow Children party like hell. Speaking of 1+1+1=3 or The Everlasting Now, they rock! Also, most of the Songs from 1993-1998 were dance-Songs. Think of "Days Of Wild", "Now", "Come On", "Billy Jack Bitch", "Peach", "Get Wild"...

I guess 1+1+1is3 doesn't count for DMSR because it has a serious message underneath the music. But it surely rocks live!

Yea 1+1 I guess is half a party song, the music is pretty good recycled erotic city, but the lyrics are real preachy and really do nothing for me, especially the embarrassing live version that starts off are you "hip to the theocratic order" or something like that. I'd rather be hip to the Housequake anyday!

As far as Baby Knows- that's pretty close to a party jam, Pretty Man don't do it for me. I'm talking Jungle Love, Shake, The Bird, Delirious, you know what the man can do. He's too damn serious now, but I'll tell you noone but Madonna can compete with filling a dance floor of all ages, genders and race. He is still the man when you play the old school jams.
