I'm kind of enjoying the complete silence and non-presence right now. It reminds me of the pre-internet days when, despite having months of desperately waiting for a scrap of news; when it did come, it was far, far sweeter because we'd been starved so much of anything Princely.

We could be on the cusp of a really exciting time for Prince fans, I reckon. If it's true that he's turned his back on the internet, then that brings back my faith in the maverick that is Prince. He was among the early when it came to using the internet to bring the music to the fans, and now he's going left once more (when everyone else is going right) in completely blanking it. Surely the first major artist to do so since the internet became the norm?

He's going against the grain. Gotta love him for it.

So that you won't think I am sick - here are a few lines. You know what a chatterbox I am, but now I am working on my opera and my finges are aching from so much composing.

One of our enemies has put it about that my opera will not be very good. Someone has even presented our prima donna with some new music to sing instead of mine.

But God be praised, our leading lady has flatly refused and said that she prefers my music, which I have written specifikly to suit her voice. So we have won our first battle. [lmao]

I have done nothing else, so I don't know any news and have nothing more to write.

I am wishing you a very happy New Year - and that your health may grow stronger and stronger every day - to the benefit and joy of loved ones and true friends - and to the annoyance and anger of your enemies! [LOL!]

For New Year I composed a fun piece to be performed by four orchestras - which creates a delightful echo effect. But the musicians here are so undisciplined and I had such a terrible trouble with rehearsals - you would think that playing instruments and reading music were too much to ask of them. [LOL] Surely no one who regards themselves as a true composer can work under these circumstances [lmaooo] and still retain their honour! [LOLOL!] But it all turned out rather well in the end and the performance was a great success.

Forgive the briefness of this letter, but I am running out of paper. [LOLOL]

Now I must finish off or I will be writing on the envelope [idiot!!]
