It's very different from the album version. For me, it's more like a spoken word performance over a loose drum beat. Lots of scratching from Brother Jules, and Rhonda Smith on bass, vox & answering machine. The Livestudio Mix, also on the Holy River Maxi-CD, is much better, beating the album version in my opinion. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Good description, Xtra! I happened to love the ultrafantasy mix. I love the crazy bassline and the unexpected melody of the high pitch. If you don't like those high pitch songs like black sweat, 18&over and funky design, I can understand the dislike for this song. It is kinda dated and repetitive. The livestudio is indeed amazing, breaths much more life into the song than the rather bland album version. So, this maxi single is quite a good catch!

Like Sander said, it fits the same category as 18 & Over, TMBGITW (Mustang Mix), The Good Life (Big City Remix), TGRES (Adam & Eve Mix) - an "urban" beat with high-pitched synths and "lazy" spoken-word rap.
It's actually a personal favorite of mine - rarely talked about, and rarely listened to, but every time I'm impressed. The Livestudio version is also a favorite of mine, but the two are worlds apart - if not for the lyrics, they could be completely different songs.

For some reason I really like the whole "answering machine" part of the song. I like this mix. I had it on the US 12" promo first then got it on the UK "Holy river" CD single. However, unlike everyone else, I like the album version better than the live mix. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

somebody's somebody ultrafantisy edit
funny i'm listening 2 this right now and c a thread about it..i love this mix, the live mix is cool but i prefer the orignal version with derek hughes .oops i mean man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
