the interpretation is an obvious one; that's all i'm saying.

It's obvious to a lot of blind, ass-kissing fanatics. Something else to more reasonable people, or no one would ever have had this discussion.

I read "Possessed" soon after getting my hands on "The Work, Vol 1-4." As I read, I listened, and ironically enough, the book chronilogically followed the music, quite accurately. They'd mention "Leaving For NY"...and there it was in the Work.

I highly recommend if you can do both at the same time, you'll REALLY get a sense of the musical progression.

It'll break through the perceptions of who you think he is or might be and temper it with the fact that he's a person, with flaws and insecurities, just like the rest of us.

I just got Possessed out of the library after reading this thread. I'm only two chapters into it and already I can feel Hahn's jealousy.

I've read a lot of rockstar/band biographies, (seven about john Lennon alone) and they all seem to follow a pattern of being very "counter" to the popular opinion of the artist. I guess that's how they sell the books. I'll check into this thread later, Jeffiner, when I'm finished the book and tell you what I thought. Now everyone will know how fast or slow I can read, lol

Biographers had nasty things to say even about the man who created The Peanuts comics. They do do it to sell books & generate interest in their subjects, but in Prince's case, stating that he's talented, paranoid, vindictive oddball who has fallen from grace is not counter to popular opinion. It's confirmed fact.

It's becuase all great artists and genius musicians are seriously fucked up; often very abusive to people and insecure.

I can't remember the exact wording but did find it funny when he says about Prince arguing with Wendy and Lisa and telling them they're going to hell for being Lesbians!!!

Brave man! I reckon Lisa could kick of crap out of him!!!

Well, Wendy & Lisa did once hint that Lisa actually did wink
In a 1989 interview where they're asked questions about eachother, Wendy was asked:

Has Lisa ever thumped anyone?

Wendy: Yes. With very good cause. I probably shouldn't say who but this one person... (claps) hallelujah!
Lisa: Shall we give him a hint who?
Wendy: No. They'll have to guess
Interviewer: Er...we wouldn't be talking about Prince here would we?
Then on to the next question....
wink

Can you call someone who went to University a genius? What IQ score does one need to have to be called a genius, do you know that?

And that's a serious question! A collegue of mine did Uni but to call her a genius seems too much IMO but then again she is very good in her job (which is entirely different to what she studied.)

"Distinguished mental superiority; uncommon intellectual power; especially, superior power of invention or origination of any kind, or of forming new combinations; as, a man of genius. [1913 Webster]

Genius of the highest kind implies an unusual intensity of the modifying power. --Coleridge. [1913 Webster]

A man endowed with uncommon vigor of mind; a man of superior intellectual faculties and creativity; as, Shakespeare was a rare genius."

"To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men--that is genius" -- Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Few are worthy of the title "genius". This unusual breed is often shrouded in mystery, their personas overshadowed by the magnitude of their accomplishments. Many were misunderstood in their lietime, disparaged for their non-traditional thinking; their ideas too innovative for their time.

We are introduced to many of these famous men and women in the pages of dusty textbooks where it is easy to forget how truly revolutionary their thoughts and deeds once were. These are the people that allow us to marvel at the ability of our fellow man, who change our lives forver whether we know it or not.

Geniuses are not necessairly born with their brilliance intact, although much of their skill can be inherited from their parents. The ability of the genius is awakened by their environment, and sustained by their aptitude for hard work Internal conflict, the challenge of hard-thought intellectual inquiry, and even glory are some of the many factors that provoke the genius to act.

What we know is that every genius is endowed with extra-ordinary creative thinking abilities, often displaying a stunning grasp of logic and reasoning, with brains functioning at the farthest edge of human capacity. A truly rare being, the genius has a powerful mind that searches relentlessly for knowledge and understanding. Over time, their focus may narrow, and they seize upon and dissect a subject of endless interest to them. It is their unique abilities that allow them to move beyond simple mastery, to the point in which they can see the world in a way no one could have imagined.

Through this process, genius becomes exploration, its holders driven by restless curiosity into unchartered territory. Here, through determination, passion and astonishing brilliance, they set about shattering old beliefs, breaking new ground, and establishing order where none existed. These men and women of conviction see the world in entirely new ways, transcending limits while on a journey of courage and inner strength. But it is in our everyday world where we see the fruits of their labour, for genius is brilliance translated into action. It is achievement realised- a startling theory, a moving piece of music, a wondrous invention.

Intentionally or not, geniuses become leaders, lighting the way to a brighter future for the rest of humankind. They serve as an inspiration, a reminder of our innate potential. The genius shares his or her gifts with society, elevating our spirits and raising our sights. In return, he or she is not merely celebrated, but remembered for all time. They attain immortality, and our lives are forever enhanced y their momentous contributions.

Um you really need to lay off your trying to start a fight with anyone in this thread(trying to start on with CJ and fcuk as well) since you have claimed to be a "genious", IF you are in fact a true genious you would of read the rules about trying to start fights with others in threads. Now my conversing with you is over and please do not respond to me either as for I wont you either.

Rule number 1 in the forum rules:
Be civilized
Don't create offensive, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive or excessively profane posts. Do not instigate, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. If you insult someone "jokingly", be prepared to have it not interpreted that way by the Moderators. A good general rule: "criticize ideas, not people." Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense is grounds for immediate account deletion.
