Who Actually SAW the Why U Wanna Treat Me.. video back in the day? Was this video actually played on Tv? I have it on a collection passed down to me from an orger a long time ago. I always forget this even exsists. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I only saw those AFTER 1988 or so when I managed to get ahold of some compilation bootlegs for his videos.
Anything pre-dating the Controversy material, as far as videos go, is always so cringe worthy to me. Somewhere between his debut material and Controversy, that bitch learned how to dance, because before Controversy that shit was just embarrassing.

Can I add the 'full band version of I wanna be your lover' to this request? I know that WB wanted to promote him as a one man band, which is why there is the solo video, but did the full band version ever get circulated? I did. They played the video on Midnight Special. P was also a guest on there but that was on a different episode. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I saw the video for the first time when I was 8 in 1987. BET had a show called Video Vibrations (I miss that show so much) and they dedicated the whole show to Prince. After the shock of seeing Prince in a trenchcoat and underwear in the Diry Mind and Uptown videos, I even more shocked to see Prince with this big floppy hairdo singing with his guitar and it was the video for Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad. I didn't know that Prince had released albums before the 1999 album at the time. I dug it instantly and I dig it now. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yeah I have all the videos too. The first time that I actually saw WUWTMSB was back in 1988 when BET was running one of there Prince specials. It was the first time I saw the video for Automatic. I had a friend tell me about it and I was like there no video for that song. Boy I was wrong. One of P's best. __________________________________________________

Me too!!! I had taped that episode too. I thought that song and video was so cool. It came on around September or October 1988! I remember talking with my friend Charlie at school about that episode the next day and we were having a ball with it. Ahh memories. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". He was not focusing on dancing. He was during a lot of guitar playing and rocking. I do not think he suddenly learned to dance.

P definately knew how to dance BEFORE Controversy. P's thing during 79 & 80, especially in his live performances, and videos, was to reach a white audience. So basically, he was a black Leif Garret during his second album. And he was Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger and Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls during Dirty Mind. I must admit that I don't remember seeing ANY Prince videos played on TV
prior to Little Red Corvette and 1999 in 1982. I didn't get to see most of the pre-'82 videos until around '87/'88 when they started putting together various Prince specials on TV.
