That's because some people use the org for something that they are lacking IRL. The people might change , but the situations don't, so I can see why the older orgers see the repetition. The org is what you decide to make it, I guess. You are absolutely right, paintedlady. Which is why it feels better to me to not get overly involved... although I do enjoy many of my interactions here obviously... or else I wouldn't come back, eh?

Maybe. Although I think the general jive is, it would appear some particularly active forum members here became fans relatively recently during the internet era. Whilst crapping on newbies is generally quite low - this particular strain of newbie has no desire to even look at a simple discography, and would rather rattle off whatever ever is on the top of their head, whether it's on topic or not, hoping for a multi-page thread, regardless of it's content. I'd guess it's a symptom of their excitement at delving into such a large and rich back catalogue, yet having it all at the click of a mouse button, thus not actually absorbing or appreciating any of it.

Well said! I know that I tend to hover in the non music section although the MJ, Janet, and Madonna threads tend to go down the same path. I want to love everything Prince does musically, but for me it stopped happening around Diamonds and Pearls, but that is my opinion. Where I get upset here is that people don't want to talk about the music. We talk about superficial things. Which is ok for some but can't we have a forum just for Prince music, not what he wore or what pancakes he would order etc. Music is the best...

This thread can't be forgotten. On the first page right now, there are 12 threads that are either about pictures of Prince or related to some other utterly vapid topic.
This is really, really sad. What happened to the intriguing debates about the lyrical content of The Rainbow Children? Almost every thread is about pictures of some body part of Prince. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

there's never an error. Osiris was torn to pieces, his body parts thrown to the little fishes for them to eat. Isis puts him back together later on. the names change and so does the time but the themes repeat throughout history my innocence raped my trust betrayed my mind deceived my heart in smitherines and u've got the gall to breathe.
