I know its all been discussed before way back but i was studying the 1999 cover yesterday and i only just noticed the drawing of a pair of button up trousers styled like the ones he wore for parade and then ugotthelook in yellow, with the buttons up the sides and the cross over button up front.


Does/did prince design his own clothes?

Did he make the art for that album do you know: the inside pic is of him lying on a bed with a large pad and a set on paints. Theres no tribute to cover design or the art which seems odd.

If prince made up this art then it makes sense that he may have designed his clothes years ago as the image is there on that album.

Or maybe he liked the image someone else penned for the album and in later years copied the design for his clothes.

It seems to me likely that he may have made this artwork as its quite naive and very interesting with lots of representations of what became the lovesign 'squiggle'

can anyone shed some light?

He did indeed do the cover art for '1999' or so I believe.

so that makes the trouser art even more interesting and someone else in here suggested he stole the lovesign symble when its actually on that cove as doodles and the final form of it.

prince has always had a hand in the designing of his clothes and band members. the pants ur referring 2 started during the controversy tour up until the lovesexy era. they were designed by marie/france (sp of name?)

The promo disk of that song with the white sleeve is a great. I like the sketchy style, a little childish in some ways. Prince likes the felt tipped pens!

i can read some of the mirror message but not all as its so small

his handwriting is strange though the curly sig in the middle seems done by someone else.


the writing is childish but shows an insight into his mind, the use of the backwards wrting is a bit of a theme for him like his backwards music. i mean backwards played forward of course etc

God, I love everything about that album, even the cover. I kinda bought it just for the cover because I already had it on my harddrive

Everybody knows about the backwards "the revolution". Here are some other things that I have always noticed but I have never seen mentioned on here.

These 3 things are my favorites;

1)Observe the letter "P" in Prince. It's the head of a lion. U can actually see the profile of a lion's head. U can see the lion's mane. I believe this came from "lion in my pocket".

2) The lion's head actually morphs into the letter "R", which is another animal. But let me finish with the lion's head first. The "studs" from P's trenchcoat which is part of the letter "R", is actually still part of the letter "P". Look closely and u will see that the studs is the lion's mouth. I'll let ya'll see this before I continue.
