Purple Rain had another verse?

I was watching some Prince videos my friend had. He said that he had the original video recording of Purple Rain that was used on the Soundtrack. There was another verse in the song I wonder why they removed the verse? I know they shortened 'Computer Blue' but why did they leave that verse off Purple Rain
Experts what are the lyrics to this verse?

The extra verse was missed out because it wasn't very good. It was kinda
unfinished and the lyrics didn't really fit with the sentiment of the song.
Simple really.

There was also a long intro that was edited down and a lot of the guitar solo
at the end was edited down as well.

In fact, I'd say that Purple Rain is a prime example of how good editing can
actually improve a song.

The song was embellished from the origninal recording at 1st Avenue at the 1983 Purple Rain preview concert. Most of the songs very recorded live Let's Go Crazy, Baby I'm A Star, and I Would Die 4 U were also used from this concert. Purple Rain does contain an extra verse with Prince talking about money and so forth. It really wasn't needed in the song and it flows better without it. Even the Beautiful Ones origninal recording also has an extra verse too.

Now I have the Beautiful extended version that is TOO MUCH screaming. I wish the full version of Darling Nikki was on the Soundtrack it was only 30 seconds more.
Maybe on the 30 year anniversary CD.

I lie to myself

Actually, just 3 songs from that show were used on the album; Purple Rain,
I Would Die 4 U and Baby I'm A Star, and Prince only really used the backing
tracks from the last 2, deciding to re-sing the lead vocals and re-do a lot of the
instrumentation. Purple Rain however only had minor remixing done and the
addition of some strings (plus of course some editing).

It was a very exciting show overall, as half the songs performed were brand
new, and the audience were hearing what would become the bulk of the
Purple Rain album's songs for the first time. Here's the setlist...

Let's Go Crazy
When U Were Mine
A Case Of U
Computer Blue
Delirious
Electric Intercourse
Automatic
I Would Die 4 U
Baby I'm A Star
Little Red Corvette
Purple Rain
D.M.S.R.

The edited (album) version of The Beautiful Ones is also better. Tighter...with a much nicer "arc." cool
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Agreed. Especially the guitar solo.

Ditto for Computer Blue I have 4 different versions of it.
eek 15:30?? Not so much. I did hear the part from the practice scene in Purple in there though, that is kinda cool. You gotta love those 'imports' innocent thumbs up!

Totally agree with you on that.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
