Boy versus Girl - discussion time

In the above mentioned song, P speaks about the Boy versus Girl theory, in 84 when P became a megastar and broke all the rules, another star appeared called Madonna, both came from similiar backgrounds, to become icons of the modern age.

But which one had more influence on the way we see music (and alot of other things) today?

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Whitnail...are u talking about the "World Series Of Love." Boy Vs. Girl?

If so, I was just going to comment on Prince's desire to love a woman more than she can love him...God only knows what that means...

As for Prince competing with female musicians, such as Madonna...I don't believe Prince attempts...I believe Prince competes with himself...and runs on a track with other musicians and performers for support and unity.

I love both Prince and Madonna, However...I really appreciate Madonna's work on the "Dick Tracy Soundtrack," more than some of Her other releases...I remember wearing all of those plastic bracelets in high school for about a year...

I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life with Prince...but I wouldn't want to live with Madonna.

I would love if you would broaden that statement abit more, I know many people who have alot of respect for Prince and Madonna for shaken and waken us all up abit, the outrage was caused by a lot of narrow minded people, who failed to see beyond their crucifix and stain glass church windows, these are the same people that turn a blind eye on the issues that effect many humans across the world and later thru guilt point their finger at the obvious.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

in response to 'he liberates everybody'..no he doesnt.the people who do not like the thingz we love him 4,may b a little tight-butted,but they represent the people he does not liberate.therefore it iz incorrect to state that he liberates everybody.

saying they cant see beyond their crucifixes doesnt make an unrealistic statement, realistic.mayb their crucifixes saved them from years of being persuaded 2 sincerely fuck the taste out of other peoples mouths..

2 liberate everybody,love has 2 b unconditional & completely harmless.he iz neither & thats ok.

If I may add my two cents on the topic of who of P & M did a better job at liberating people:
I've listened to Madonna's latest albums [over the past couple of years], and frankly, for a woman who's married with two kids and has all this 'life experience', I found her lyrics to be pretty shallow and simplistic, they don't show any kind of emotional/psychological/spiritual progress or evolution from those she wrote back in the years when she started.
For all the talks of Prince's creativity, especially in his songwriting, being somewhat stuck in the past, lacking inspiration and not evolving due to his 'reclusive lifestyle' and lack of openness on the world outside of his music/artistic circles - well, I find at least his lyrics far more mature, evolving and richer emotionally/spiritually than Madonna's.
Just an impression...
